"Pop/Rock Artist Releases Second Album "Ruined for the Ordinary""

Nominated for five Canadian GMA Covenant Awards, Canadian singer/ songwriter, Jill Hagen, from Camrose, AB released her album, Ruined for the Ordinary, in May 2010 after having much success with her debut album, Perspective (2008). Her music is receiving radio play across the country. She is currently pursuing music full time travelling with her band across Canada and the United States influencing young and old alike.
Ruined for the Ordinary, produced by award winning producer, Roy Salmond, is a collection of pop/rock tunes that challenge the status quo encouraging listeners to pursue a life they were meant for while facing the hardships along the way. Songs such as title track, “Ruined for the Ordinary”, “Next Best Thing” and “24 Hours” make light of everyday living while “Outta My Head”, “I’m Alright” and “Bigger” express the difficulty of fighting the battle within ourselves. Inspirational song, “Least of These”, was written from Hagen’s convictions after spending a few weeks last summer living amongst a Kenyan tribe.
Hagen says, “Stepping out and doing what God calls you to is both rewarding and trying but you learn so much in the process that you would never want to go back to life the way you knew it before. And that is when someone pointed out to me that I was ruined for an ordinary life. The saying stuck in my head and I ended up naming my album after it.”
Jill is currently booking touring dates to promote Ruined for the Ordinary.

"Nothing Ordinary - Jill Hagen Nominated for Two CGMA Awards"

"Ruined for the Ordinary" is the title Camrose recording artist Jill Hagen chose for her second album, which was nominated by the Canadian Gospel Music Association as one of the top five rock albums of 2010. Her song "24 Hours" was nominated for the Pop Song of the Year...

Hagen made a big splash when she first entered the gospel music scene in 2008, when she was nominated by the Canadian Gospel Music Association as New Artist of the Year. Her album, "Perspective", was nominated as Pop Contemporary Album of the Year while one of her tracksfrom that album, "Fleeting Breath", was nominated as Inspirational Song of the Year.

Hagen wasn't chosen as the winner at the 2010 CGMA awards ceremony held at First Alliance Church in Calgary, Oct. 29, but she knows she was up against some tough competition in Newworldson and Thousand Foot Krutch. "I considered it an honour to be in the same category as those major label bands," she said.

Hagen spent the last two years touring across Canada and the United States, sharing her passion for Christ through music. Bruce Robertson, a teacher from Glenmore Christian Academy has said that she has a heart to share her songs with others, especially young people, in a way that encourages and challenges. "I love the way she engages her audience, inviting us into a deep, reflective and fun time with God. The concert she put on for the kids was unforgettable. We can't wait to have her back."

Peter Fleck, from the CGMA, said Hagen's vocals and competent musicianship were what impressed him most about Hagen's ability to connect with the audience. "She has a natural stage presence that is genuine and not contrived. Jill shares from her heart in a way that engages the crowd and wins them over".... - Booster November 2010
