John Read Band

The JRB was formed in early 2007 by John who had been looking for a outlet for his song writing skills. John had played in different bands and played solo many times over the years but was always frustrated by the tend for venues to pursue cover acts.
He decided to bight the bullet and set out to form a band of musicians with the common goal to play original music and damn the cost.
First to be asked and accept was Paul Rhodes on bass. Paul and John had known each other for many years and Paul’s bass skills where first brought to John’s attention when he was playing for legendary band “Loose Goose”.
Second was the highly versatile keyboard player Peter Wilkinson who John had played with in the blues/groove band “Man About A Dog” .
Last to join was the only unknown factor ,Mike “Styx”Curran on percussion. John ,Paul and Pete (and no they are not always saints) had auditioned many drummers but Styx stuck out way above the rest ,not only for his uncanny feel for the rhythm but more importantly a genuine love for the music being played .
The outcome was no great surprise - four musicians having the time of their lives playing music that portrays that passion.
There is an intensity in the music but mostly pure joy.
