"POD Bassist Traa Produces & Plays on Jon Goodhue EP (Due 6-30)"

Bluesy rocker Jon Goodhue hails from Gloucester, Massachusetts. A longtime guitar player and vocalist, he spent time in several bands before working on a solo project, whereupon he moved to San Diego and formed the Jon Goodhue Band.

Logging so much time onstage (he also plays with Thrillrazr and various cover bands), there are bound to be occasional crappy nights. “At one gig, my band was told to play all night, but there was nobody there when we were about to take the stage. About five songs in, the place became packed with people. Eventually, there was over a hundred [people] there.”

“When we were about to take the stage for our second set, the manager told us that their DJ was going to play for the rest of the night...my thoughts are they just didn’t want to pay us the bar sales they promised us.”

A debut album Release Me came out in 2008. His sophomore record Flux was released in June 2011.

By the end of 2011, P.O.D. bassist Traa Daniels was recording a new EP with Goodhue called All In, performing bass on the tracks as well. Other guest players include L.A. based drummer Nick Adams (Life Down Here), and the EP was mastered in L.A. by Precision Mastering (Stone Temple Pilots , Nirvana, Alice in Chains, etc.).

Due to be released digitally and on CD on June 30, All In has five songs, with a sixth available via download-only, “Eating Me Alive.” Says Goodhue, “Traa was extremely happy with the way the tracks came out and is promoting it on the road as P.O.D. tours the U.S.”

Working with Buddha Music Management (Marc Devoe & Katie Plomgren), Goodhue says “We spent the past seven months putting our all into this. We titled the EP All In to represent our dedication into this project.”

The EP cover was designed by Goodhue and painted on canvas by Oceanside’s Corey Burson. “The album art contains symbolic meanings about myself, including the Man At The Wheel, a symbol of my hometown of Gloucester, my tattoos symbolizing family, my guitars, images of my past releases, and more.”

When Goodhue plays 710 Beach Club in Pacific Beach on Friday, August 24, "Fans can expect ALL songs from the EP to be performed, as well as a few tracks from my previous records. Most likely a cover by a band whom influenced me will be played." - San Diego Reader

"Indie Fertility: five local bands you should be listening to"

Okay. You got the new Slash album this summer and you were blown away by, well, just how much it sounded like Slash was still flogging the old Gun 'n Roses cow and you thought to yourself, how could this be? When the best hard rock guitarist is reduced to repetition, does that mean all the good licks have been used up? No. It does not. Meet Jon Goodhue: he's an entirely new twist on the old dog. Goodhue's released a new album of material with POD bassist Traa Daniels producing titled All In that kills it. For good measure, I am sending a copy to Slash via his management. - San Diego Reader

Bio

At the age of 14, recieving an electric guitar for Christmas, changed the lifestyle of a young Jon Goodhue forever. Jon first performed in a live setting at an open mic in his hometown of Gloucester, Massachusetts when he was 17 in 2001. Just him and his guitar, and performing only a few songs, his small crowd knew his potential. For the next few years, Jon would continue to strengthen on the guitar, but what became the weapon was his vocals.

"I never expected to be a singer, I had always just wanted to the learn the guitar, and run around on stage like Angus Young."

In 2005, Jon formed the band Beyond The Grey. With BTG, Jon was able find his niche writing and performing new songs. The band was playing several venues across New England, filling up venues in Jon's hometown.

"We'd play for three hours a show, both our originals and a bunch of covers. It was good because we were writing material we wanted people to hear, and we also learned a crazy amount of cover songs that helped us out on our instruments, and some songs really worked my vocals."

When Beyond The Grey broke up in 2007, Jon pursued a solo project, and spent hours in his own built studio. He compiled songs he wrote over the past few years and released his debut solo album "Release Me" in 2008. Songs off the album quickly rose to liking, from the bass groove in 'Sunlight Hits Your Eyes', to the epicness of 'Evergreen'. Songs appeared on independent films, and recieved much online praise. Only one month after releasing this disc, Jon moved to Southern California to continue pursuing music.

He brought 'Release Me' with him and formed The Jon Goodhue Band in San Diego, performing songs off his debut album at venues such as The Whisky A Go-Go and The Roxy in Hollywood. In early 2011, Jon released a second album, "FLUX". With more heavier guitar riffs, and ranging vocals, "FLUX" was a showcase of years of strengthening musically, and melodical maturity.

In late 2011, with the help of manager and close family member, Marc Devoe, Jon's music reached the ears of Gorilla Biscuits owner, and bassist of P.O.D., Traa Daniels. Daniels, seeing potential in Goodhue, recorded, produced, and performed on Jon's EP, "All In" which was released in June 2012. "All In" can be purchased at live shows and be purchased online on all online retailers.
