"With Patience Comes Stardom for Josh Cashman"

Josh Cashman has found his groove.

An increasing band of followers around Australia discovered Josh's alternative folk sound and electronic textures last year through two singles Running and All About You.

Gippsland locals, however, have been following him for a lot longer, sharing his teenage journey that has brought the now 21 year old to his musical maturity.

Josh's latest single Patience dropped on Friday. It's a song about the minefield of relationships - "don't waste your patience on me 'cause I can't give you mine" - beautifully recorded and mixed with expressive vocals and moody instrumentation that takes Josh's music to a new level.

Even more than his 2015 singles, this new song holds so much promise of future greatness for Josh and many more pleasurable listening experiences for fans.

Patience can be heard and downloaded HERE, along with Running and All About You.

Josh is supporting the single with a tour, beginning with a launch at one of his favourite venues, Shebeen in Melbourne. His itinerary will include hometown gigs at Kazbah Lounge in Sale on 7 May, and Spirit Bar in Traralgon on 28 May.

The tour follows some recent packed houses at places like The Workers Club, Ding Dong Lounge and Shebeen in Melbourne and a performance at the Queenscliff Music Festival alongside artists such as Angus & Julia Stone, Hoodoo Gurus and Kate Miller-Heike.

Viewers all over the world will get to see Josh in three weeks when he appears on the online TV show Live at Spectrum. The show features artists and stories from the vibrant Gippsland music scene, streamed live on the first Sunday of each month from the Spectrum studio in Traralgon. You'll see Josh at 7.30pm on Sunday 1 May.

2016 will be busy for Josh with shows and festivals including the Nannup Music Festival in WA, as well as more singles and an EP. - Greater Gippsland

"Happy Hump Day! New Music To Get You Through The Week"

First off the ranks this year for up and coming Melbourne artist Josh Cashman is his dreamy, new single Patience. The single is only the third release for the promising muso following on from last year’s singles Running and All About You.

Cashman delivers an eclectic indie-pop soundscape with an array of layered vocals, intricate guitar, and a soft, Australian twang. Patience is nothing short of a dream with poetic lyricism like that of James Bay and Matt Corby. Sure to be an indie-pop hit in Oz, the track delivers a chorus that will activate your addiction for Cashman’s sound. Mixed by Matthew Neighbour (Matt Corby, Missy Higgins) and mastered by Adam Dempsey at Deluxe Mastering (Courtney Barnett, Sticky Fingers), the track boasts quality beyond only spanning a year.

"5 Tracks You Gotta Hear: 22 April 2016"

Josh Cashman with his brooding tone and fast articulation mixed with his soothing guitar riffs and soft percussion really makes an interesting nuanced composition in his song ‘Patience’. The young musician from Melbourne with his emotion filled nature is comparable to that of Ed Sheeran. The layering in the tune really filled out the foreground and enhanced the beach-like ambience floating in the background. A beautiful tune about moving on made majestic with his falsetto-filled harmonies to end. A real stunner of a song to say the least. - Vulture Magazine

Bio

Every now and then, a local artist emerges who has an undeniable, palpable and infectious momentum, and 21 year-old Josh Cashman definitely fits into that exclusive category. Hailing from Gippsland in Country Victoria, Josh gave up a promising football career to pursue his real passion - music. After relocating to the big city lights of Melbourne, Josh hit the ground running, immersing himself in the local indie music scene, and hasn’t looked back since.

Humble by nature, Josh began posting low-fi Facebook videos, skillfully interweaving layers of electronic textures and sublime loops with his acoustic folk originals. Word spread quickly, which saw the unassuming videos often reach thousands of views in 24 hours. Josh took the opportunity to release his first single Running, in July 2015, to a sold-out crowd at Shebeen. He’s now amassed over 20,000 fans across all social media platforms, a number which continues to grow daily.

The unstoppable momentum reached new heights in October 2015 when Josh’s second single, All About You debuted at #2 on triple j Unearthed’s Roots chart, leading to support on the station’s Roots n’ All program, as well as community radio.

The demand for new music was overwhelming, and Josh headed back into the studio to record his third single Patience. Recorded at Smooch Records, mixed by Matthew Neighbour (Matt Corby, Missy Higgins) and mastered by Adam Dempsey at Deluxe Mastering (Courtney Barnett, Sticky Fingers) the track peaked at #29 on the Spotify US Viral Charts and has been streamed over 220,000 times. It also impressively climbed to #1 on both Unearthed’s Rock and Roots charts, and #8 overall.

Word travelled quickly, and Josh signed to Paradigm Talent Agency in the US. Locally, he signed with Onelove Management and Mushroom Publishing.

In August, Josh locked himself away in the studio with lauded producer Jan Skubiszewski (John Butler Trio, The Cat Empire, ILLY). The result is an upcoming EP, mastered by Joe LaPorta at Sterling Sounds (David Bowie, Foo Fighters, The Weeknd). The 5 new tracks evoke a newfound sense of confidence and maturity. The first single Wishful Imagery will be released on September 30, with two accompanying single launches in Melbourne and Sydney.

Packing out venues wherever he goes, thanks to his fiercely loyal fanbase, the gifted self-taught musician has already sold-out revered Melbourne venues including The Worker’s Club and Penny Black, as well as a residency at Ding Dong Lounge. In between playing his headline tour dates, Josh has also opened for renowned musicians including Ash Grunwald and Jon Toogood (Shihad).

Having already broken into the Australian festival circuit last year, playing the likes of Queenscliff Music Festival and Nannup Music Festival, Josh is preparing for another heavy summer touring schedule, as well as supporting Tash Sultana on her US tour in February 2017.

Nothing ever did nor will happen overnight, persistence and timing are everything,” says a hard-working Josh. With a work ethic that comes as naturally as his talent, the sky’s the limit for a promising, exciting act like Josh Cashman.
