- J. Rocit (born Jonathan Conley) is ready to tell his story and give the people something
- they can truly relate to. The 25 year old lyricist hails from the BedfordStuyvesant section
- of Brooklyn, NY where he grew up in a singleparent home, in the Marcy Housing
- projects. Growing up as a shy and quiet kid, J. Rocit found it hard to express himself
- verbally so he began to do so through writing. After developing such a love for writing, he
- began to write short stories and poetry. It wasnt until he heard Jay Zs A Million record
- that J. Rocit developed a strong love for HipHop. He then started digging in the crates
- exploring all types of music from The Beatles to A Tribe Called Quest. This sparked Js
- interest to began writing music along with his cousins Ravelle and Spanky. They would
- come together collectively to write and record music with a tape recorder. Growing up in a
- lower class household, J. Rocit seen a career in music as a way out of the projects for
- him and his family. Like most inner city youth growing up in a lower class singleparent
- home, J. Rocit fell victim to the streets. He began selling and using drugs which
- eventually he would end up serving time in jail. While being in jail, Rocit had the chance to
- reflect and evaluate life. Upon his release he took things more serious and wanted better
- for the sake of his children. He reconnected with cousin Spank and his Shark
- Gang/L.I.V.E Money camp and began to work harder than ever.
- J. Rocits plan with his music is to provide the masses with good quality music HipHop is lacking today.
