They say, "If you can remember the 60's, then you weren't there!". I became a teenager in the mid sixties and started playing the guitar in 1967, I remember the era well. The Beatles, CCR, The Rolling Stones, Cream, The Doors, they have all had an influence on the music I write and play ;however, Mississippi John Hurt was and still is the artist that has had the most profound influence on my style of guitar playing. I never intended on being a solo artist but, because of my propensity for adjusting the music of the covers that I play to reflect the styles I prefer rather than just copying them, I've found it difficult to find other players that I could join with. In other words, most people interested in building a band want to put together sets of music that are as close to the original as they can manage and get out playing as soon as possible. As a single performer, it has been my goal to increase the amount of perceived music in a song by making use of various picking and rhythm styles.
I have played in taverns, lounges, house concerts and various open mic's across Alberta. I generally play a mixture of my original songs as well as covers by a variety of other artists.
