Although Lauren Burton has only lived in Texas for the past two years, she has already made an impact in the massive music scene that the state is known for. Lauren Burton first picked up a guitar at age 15 while living in Lexington, Kentucky, where she was first introduced to one of her biggest influences, Johnny Cash. After hearing "Walk the Line," she decided that music was no longer simply one of her hobbies--it had become her passion. She started writing songs at age 17 and quickly began getting booked in Austin venues including the Red Eyed Fly, the Ghost Room, ND at 501 Studios, Momo's, the Beauty Bar, and Stubbs. Lauren has also played at Wake the Dead and The Coffee Pot in San Marcos, Texas. Currently, her song "Sirens" is being played on Women of Substance Radio and Womensradio.com. This year, Lauren played 3 unofficial SXSW show cases for Harris Radio, the Clive Bar, and WET Unplugged in Austin.
At only 18, Lauren has already developed a distinct sound that grabs the attention of people of all ages; while aggressive acoustic blues riffs layered with honey-coated vocals set the foundation, melodic and purely poetic lyrics keep you completely hooked.
