TORONTO - She's not yet 19, but Uxbridge's Lauren Christoff has released a single that's receiving radio airplay across the country.

Her song 'Won't Stop' was played for the first time this week on Toronto's 99.9 Mix FM, which has more than 80 sister stations in Canada. According to her record label, the song has also received play on the station Z103.5.

"It's so surreal; it's crazy," said Ms. Christoff of hearing herself on the radio.

Ms. Christoff signed in late 2007 with the Toronto-based independent label Northern Heights Records, which is working to launch her first album coast to coast in September.

"Lauren is working with the best producers in the country," said Derek Bolingbroke, a managing director with Northern Heights, who notes the album will be released in all parts of Canada simultaneously. "We're keeping our fingers crossed for the U.S. as well."

The name of the album has not yet been publicly disclosed, but Ms. Christoff shares writing credits on it, he said.

He describes Won't Stop as a pop song with "a slight dance influence", while Ms. Christoff called it "a definite summer song. I had so much fun making this song and I am really excited that we have the opportunity to share it with so many people."

A video is also in the works, said Mr. Bolingbroke.

"It's one of these industries where the familiar quote is (success) happens overnight," added Mr. Bolingbroke, who said the radio airplay means "We've done our job, in a sense. The product is very strong."

The three-year-old company heard about Ms. Christoff when looking for artists to represent, he said.

"Lauren has been very active in the Uxbridge community and her name had come up when we were looking for talent. We loved her attitude, we love the sound of her."

Ms. Christoff began vocal lessons at age four and performed in the musical 'Annie' at seven. She also passed all Royal Conservatory of Music vocal exams and received a silver medal for highest examination mark in all of Ontario and Quebec.

"I've been singing since I was a kid; I knew I wanted to do something with music," she says.

Mr. Bolingbroke, himself only 24, said Ms. Christoff has the potential to become a success in foreign countries with her music as well. "She's got the whole package for entertainment... there could be no stopping her." - Durham Region News

UXBRIDGE, England: Durham Region Media, October 26, 2007 – Lauren Christoff, 18, is hard at work on her debut album, yet to be named, set for release in the spring. Ms. Christoff is working with Northern Heights Records, which discovered her through “word of mouth” and her local performances in theatre, said her project manager, Alex Arnold.

While creating the album, which may land her in the Cayman Islands for some of the recording, Ms. Christoff is also attending York University’s communications program. “It’s a very hectic schedule but I am excited to be following my dream,” noted Ms. Christoff.
