"Who is Linda Luztono? By: Bill Delingat"

Not only is she the first Canadian female singer to get to perform on 106 & Park on BET she is another young promising star to watch break in the USA.
Her original competition date was set for “Wild Out Wednesdays “,January 13th, however with the Earth quake disaster in Haiti, BET had dedicated time to help the survivors of this international emergency and relief fund and has rescheduled her appearance for Thursday January 21st, 2010,at 6pm ,with a special episode called “Thursday Night Throwdown” which will launch “Mobile Voting” for the contestants as well, so we hope that at the time of this article everyone has texted in her #79922 and we will have great news for our viewers and her fans on where she placed or better yet that she wins the competition.
Luztono is a young nineteen year old singer/songwriter born in Kiev, Ukraine, her mother is Ukrainian and her father was born in Cuban. Linda started singing in English before she could even speak it and loved artists like Whitney Houston, Maria Carey, Michael Jackson and her idol Alicia Keys. Luztono has been writing her own songs since she was twelve scooping instrumentals from wherever she could. It didn’t matter if they were hip hop beats or soft R&B. Linda would always sing around the house and eventually joined a Jazz band, "The Green Jazz berries" as their lead singer. She went on from there and had a promising amateur career with performances ranging from jazz to theatre including appearances at:
• Black History Month shows
• Banquet for the Toronto Youth Cabinet – Dundas square
• "The Suite Life" Production - St. Christopher House's
• The Honey Jam Showcase
• Manifesto
• The Remix Project
Luztono talked about the “The Remix Project” in an interview with “Urban Steez”, she said “The people there really helped me kick off my career in the music industry. Working with Noah “40” Shebib who is Drake’s engineer and producer, really gave me an insight of the ins and outs of what the industry is about and what it takes to be successful. As for bad experiences, luckily I haven’t had any yet!”
She has performed in the musical and theatre productions "Hair" and "Oliver," "Idle" and "Macbeth". Some of Linda's musical influences include Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, whom Luztono agrees was one of her biggest influences, “I found such strength and purity in her voice at such a young age that I always imitated her and tried to do my best when singing her songs.” When talking a``bout her idol, the person she strives to be like, not just as a musician but as a person, Alicia Keys, she went on to say, “Alicia Keys is also another raw talent, she's just simply amazing, no doubt about it. Everything from the way she carries herself to how the media treats her. She really knows how to have a personal life and realizes that not everything is everyone's business and that's one of the many things that I admire about her so much.”
Luztono describes her music as a mix of Hip Hop, Pop and R&B as that was what she grew up listening to and what she wanted to do. “I write about my personal experiences of course, as well as experiences and challenges that friends and family have dealt with. One person can only go through so much so if you write often, it’s very hard to have each song as your very own personal experience; that’s why it’s so important to really open up and even write about things that simply derive from the imagination.” On the future of music and the genres of today Luztono once said, “The music world is a bit different than it used to be. People don’t sell as many records as they used to, but I can’t say that the music world is bad. The internet has a definite impact on the amount of records sold but that’s why things are based on and looked at a bit differently—for example, an artist may now be titled as a most downloaded artist rather than back in the day when the internet didn’t exist. There has also just been a change in artists as in any generation and some talented artists out there are so underrated!”
Luztono has an open mind to music and appreciates other genres .Luztono says. “It’s always nice to expand your horizons”.
This incredible talent is sure to a big hit on the charts in the years ahead and again showing the world the talent Canada’s has to offer.

"Industry MOOVS – ‘Linda Luztono’ – Fall Issue 2011"

Linda Luztono was born in Kiev, Ukraine but grew up downtown, Toronto. She always believed that she was born to sing, and from a young age she envisioned herself on a stage. Linda held on to her vision, she started writing and taking vocal lessons. Although she had a beautiful voice Linda knew she had to get it out there. So she started performing anywhere she could. “I took it to the next level because the only way to go was up. I really wanted to work on my gift and utilize it to my best ability. There was no particular age or time, I just always had that mentality,” Linda stated during our interview.

This beautiful talented singer entered the scene five years ago. She began to see things start happening in the last two years. One of her greatest accomplishments was winning the ‘All Star Female Competition’ on BET’s 106 & Park’s ‘Wild Out Wednesday.’ “I was the first Canadian artist to appear on that segment of the show. So to win was a huge deal. I think I put it on for my city.” Linda laughed and proudly said during the interview.

MOOV: “Why do you feel that music is important?”

Linda: “Music is a universal language. It can make us laugh, cry, give us goose-bumps, make us feel lonely, inspired and every other emotion in the book. It is incredible. It’s important because sometimes it is what keeps many of us sane. I hope that my music can help do that one day.”

MOOV: “Was there anyone you looked up to? If so, who and why?”

Linda: “Being the youngest of three, I looked up to my big sister. She has such a strong personality. That is most likely where I get my ‘don’t you dare walk all over me attitude.’ She has taught me so much and has always been a huge supporter of my dreams. Then there was Whitney Houston. Boy, did I love Whitney. I fell in love with her when my dad played ‘I Will Always Love You’ on a cassette back home. I was about four and tried to imitate her sound. She’s the reason why I started singing.”

MOOV: “What inspires your creative expression, drive and hard work?”

Linda: “I do a lot of thinking about life. I find inspiration while driving or doing dishes. A couple of days ago, I actually thought about the fact that I get inspired when I least expect it. Every day life, personal and peer experiences inspire me. My fans and supporters drive me to work harder with every message or comment they leave me. I always want more! Driving by a real nice house, I’d love to have also does the trick. I want to buy my parents a house one day.”

MOOV: “What message are you trying to send to your audience?”

Linda: “I am trying to make relatable, feel-good music. Music that I would listen to. It’s tough to try and send one particular message. Even though I try to emphasize positivity, not every song I write will be happy-go-lucky.”

Linda Luztano’s main goal is to become an international star and tour the world. She wants to share her music with the universe. Linda has had several opportunities presented to her, especially since her appearance on BET. Linda and her team are presently going through the selection process. She is also putting in a lot of studio time working on new music.”

MOOV: “As an Entrepreneur, what are the challenges or obstacles that you came across and how did you overcome them?”

Linda: “One of the obstacles I came across is distinguishing and filtering people’s good intentions from the bad. People approach me with ideas for projects, that in the end I know are not in my best interest. I overcame these situations by preventing myself from making impulsive decisions and discussing all potential ideas with my team and my family. I have learned to make people earn my trust.”

MOOV: “Would you like to mention your team?”

Linda: “Yes, shout out to Bobby Allen,Teshia Allen, Jordan Oram, and Marli.”

MOOV: “What wise advice can you give up-and-coming entrepreneurs in your field?”

Linda: “I know everyone says it, but it has been repeated so many times for a reason. DON”T GIVE UP! This doesn’t only apply to aspiring entrepreneurs in my field, but to anyone with a dream. If you’re good at something and even if you’re not, keep going. Practice. Get Better. Don’t let anyone tell you that it is impossible. I can’t promise a walk in the park, but the hard work will be worth while. Always saty positive.”

MOOV: “What’s your next MOOV? What can we expect form you in the near future?”

Linda: “You can definitely expect to hear me on the radio. We’re just waiting for the right time. I will also be doing shows across North America.” ~ - moovmagazine.com

"Linda Luztono Wins 93.7 WBLK Female R&B Artist of the Year"

Critics are now hailing Ms. Luztono to be the next big thing to come from Toronto, Canada, following in the foot steps of gammy nominated singer Melanie Fiona. If Luztono has it her way, she may just reach above their expectations.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Press Release) – Jun 30, 2010 – The 2010 FM 93.7 WBLK Unsigned Hype Music Awards held in Buffalo, New York on June 19th, 2010 was an entertaining event featuring great performances by Canadian and American Independent artists, including platinum R&B recording artist Lyfe Jennings. In its second year, the 93.7 WBLK award show featured and celebrated the success of the best independent R&B and Hip-Hop artist from both Canada and the USA; hosted by DJ DT, founder of the popular Unsigned Hype 93.7 WBLK radio show.

The highlight of the night came when Canadian R&B sensation Linda Luztono won her first International Award. WBLK voters chose Luztono as ‘The One’, giving her the title of Canadian Unsigned Hype Female R&B Artist of the Year. “I wasn’t expecting to win since Kim Davis is such a pioneer here. Thank you so much” said Luztono after accepting her 1st international music award. Luztono was up against Toronto native R&B singer Kim Davis, who rose to fame when her 2007 single “Hush” with Reggae superstar Sizzla hit the airways.

Luztono’s debuted single, “The One”, sat at #1 on WBLK’s Hype Top Ten Countdown for four weeks, earning her the nomination. The soulful and addictive song, was written by Luztono and produced by Noah ‘40’ Shebib, who is also the producer of gammy award winner, Drake's hit single "Successful".

The energizing evening ended with the authentic ballads of R&B singer Lyfe Jennings. He sang hits from his 3 previous albums including, “Must Be Nice”, “S.E.X” and “Hypothetically” which originally featured R&B singer Fantasia. Jennings who is set to release his 4th album “I Still Believe” on July 17, 2010, left the audience yearning for more after performing his 2nd single “Statistics” from his new album.

The night ended on a high note for Luztono, who was later invited to sing backstage for Mr. Jennings, “Let’s just say that we were all impressed with that beautiful voice of hers”. She had many comparing her image and voice to Mariah Carey and Alicia Keys, two of the most recognized divas in the game.

Luztono is currently busy preparing for her appearance on BET’s Blaze the Stage Summer 2010 Invitational Showcase, which takes place on Saturday, August 7th, 2010 in New York City. BLAZE THE STAGE was created by the senior show writer of BET’s flagship TV show 106 & Park, Pat Charles, who is also behind several BET TV specials and is the Creator/Casting Director of its’ wildly popular weekly talent search segment Wild-Out Wednesday, which Luztono performed on this past January.

Pat Charles created BLAZE THE STAGE with his friend, Terrence Clayton, who is the Audience Casting Manager for BETs’ 106 & Park and all BET Specials. Blaze the Stage provides a showcase that will feature the hottest up-and-coming performers who appeared on this years’ BET 106 & Park show.

We wish Luztono well in her journey to “Blaze the Stage” this summer, but she won’t keep her fans waiting much longer; she is back in the studio this month working on her next single "Secret Lover" set to be released this July 2010. Expect to be captivated by her beautiful, soulful voice. July couldn't come any sooner! - http://prlog.org

Bio

I am a singer. A music lover. I cant remember a time when I wasnt. Whether I was a toddler performing in front of friends and family with my pretend microphone or a preteen diving at every opportunity to share my voice with anyone who would listen. I was always singing my heart out.

I remember being fascinated with powerhouse voices like Celine, Mariah and Whitney. Id put on a fancy dress, make up my face with crayons and get to it like I was on TV. This passion to express myself grew in me. We moved to Canada and I blossomed into singing national anthems, joining a jazz band and eventually evolving into a songwriting artist. So yes, now its my full-time job. Im here today living my dream, my essence and destiny; writing songs, improving my voice and overall mastering my craft as an artist and a human being.

I come from a family of hard workers my mom hailing from Ukraine and my father, Cuban. They had to face countless struggles and challenges to create a better life, but their love and persistence has blessed me with something better. As an artist, that has filled me with inspiration and the desire to evolve, both artistically and personally.

My determination has led me to perform not only all over my great city, Toronto but internationally as well. This is where Ive grown to love my fans, as they keep my fire alive with their energy and tales of inspiration.

Some say Im an old soul, but I say I love life and respect its beauty. A great friend once said to, always make music and things will fall into place. Well Ive found a great place to be, and things are definitely falling all around me. Sometimes I catch the pieces to my musical puzzle and sometimes theyre not the right fit. But one thing is for sure; Ill go even when my feet are bare because the hunger in me to push through any obstacle is relentless.

I hope everyone can find their passion in life and through it, find their voice. Honesty is my true gift to you. And Im just getting started.
