Bio
Since releasing her first album ‘Return Home’ in 2014, Lisa Doscher has been honing her craft in live performances that showcase her ability to use the audience as a soundscape while her vocals soar above, inviting all to join in what could be described as a revival for the modern soul. Drawing on her American roots and time with professional a cappella groups including the legendary Albany Freedom Singers of the American Civil Rights Movement, Lisa calls her audience into a deeper experience of participation in the music being made whether by singing harmonies, call and response or laying down the beat. Her songwriting evokes the cycles of nature while her layered arrangements of rhythms and melodies hold the contrasting dynamics of these elements, bringing them to vibrant life.
Lisa often sets up her own performances in living rooms or diverse venues so that she can shape the mood of the experience; performances in the past year have ranged from small festivals to yoga barns to Garrick's Temple to Shakespeare in London. She has appeared on various local radio stations from Oxford to London and has been featured on BBC Introducing as well as on BBC Oxford with Will Gompertz. Lisa released her first video, 'Love is the Seventh Wave' in 2015, produced by the Hero's Journey Foundation in New York. Lisa also runs choirs and workshops to help people connect to their creative voices.
