"Ourstage Artist of the Week"

“Through sheer force of her musical confidence, Saga reclaims the term ‘power pop’ from the would-be dismissive music critics of the world. It’s feel good music; galloping songs with a crunch that somehow soothes.” - Ourstage (Scott Janovitz)

"Altsounds.com"

Overall, Venice is a fun, upbeat, yet insightful power-pop album. All ten tracks are uniquely crafted exhibiting talent and vision that sets Lyn Saga apart from others. You don’t want to miss out on the chance to discover this artist! - Altsounds.com

"Scrink.com"

With finger picked guitar and a Weezer-esque garage sound touched by slight elements reminiscent of 50s music, Lyn Saga offers suprisingly catchy music in a culture where most young female artists all have the same auto-tuned pop “stuff”. - Scrink.com

"Round Magazine"

"Venice", the title track off of Lyn Saga's first full-length release, is a testament to California power-pop. With crunchy guitars and squealing feedback, the song is reminiscent of Weezer-eque riffs. Lyrics are simple, honest, and relatable, juxtaposing the Venice beach lifestyle with the qualms of working a stuffy nine to five job. Saga's expressive vocals further emphasize this struggle and the longing for a more simplistic carefree life on the beach. The lyrics: "I want to be the person that I used to be/On Venice Beach when days belonged to you and me/Before the work and all responsibility..." were influenced by Saga's real life experiences working in a high stress environment as a surgical nurse while trying to maintain the quintessential laid back California lifestyle. "The only thing that I looked forward to during that time in my life was the weekend. All I really wanted to do was to play my guitar on the beach!" states Saga. "But instead my life felt like a Robert Frost poem 'i have promises to keep and miles and miles before I sleep'. And that is what I tried to capture in this song. I think that stressful situations can easily change who you are inside and it's important to step back once in a while to recognize this."

Bio

Lyn Saga is a power-pop singer/songwriter whose catchy melodies, anthemic choruses, and energetic performances have drawn fans from coast to coast. Classically trained in music theory, jazz guitar, and classical guitar, Lyn began writing original music at an early age. Growing up, she spent every penny of her allowance collecting records of 90’s alternative rock artists like Weezer, Hole, Fountains of Wayne, Foo Fighters, and the Smashing Pumpkins. Inspired by these artists, she performed in several bands throughout high school, playing locally in the New Jersey, New York, and Philadelphia area.

Shortly after, Lyn moved to Los Angeles to pursue music as a solo artist. She recorded rough acoustic recordings of her songs on her laptop computer and played open mics around Los Angeles. In late 2010, Lyn wrote and recorded a 5-song EP entitled ‘The Ball of String EP’ which was independently released in early 2011. In 2013, she released her first full-length album ‘Venice’.

Lyn is truly the epitome of a DIY (do-it-yourself) artist. She persistently works on her craft, writing original music and booking her own shows at traditional music venues, coffee houses, bars, and open air venues in the Los Angeles and New York area. Currently, Lyn is planning 2013 tour dates in support of her recent album release.
