"Best Shows to See - Makeshift Prodigy"

Listed on Metromix's "25 Best Shows to See" alongside acts such as Coldplay and Green Day, Makeshift Prodigy is among the nation's most exciting young Indie Rock bands. Hailing from Chicago, the band has sold out such legendary venues in the Windy City as Metro and the House of Blues. With a style compared to that of U2, Coldplay, Muse, and Radiohead and an energy all its own, Makeshift Prodigy has opened for 30 Seconds to Mars, Lupe Fiasco, Shinedown, Sugar Ray, Young the Giant, Neon Trees, and several other notable artists...

...be sure to see the band live, as their show has been described by Southside of Fearless Radio as "second to none" - K Garcia Productions

"Live from Summerfest"

Of all the Summerfest Emerging Artist Series bands I have been listening to, this one has one of the most ambitious, epic sounds, and thus has the best shot at breaking out. - JS Online

"Lollapalooza Rockers: Makeshift Prodigy"

“We are thrilled that Makeshift Prodigy was able to join us for this event. We’re really lucky to have such an emergent musical force on board” says Kristin Henry of The Bureau, one of the festival’s sponsoring organizations, “Their unique and powerful sound is a perfect fit.”

Makeshift Prodigy just performed for a lively and engaged audience at Lollapalooza 2013. The alternative rock band is known for taking a live show to the next level and they thrive on making the listening/viewing experience unforgettable and incomparable. - Mystery Street Recording Company

"Live Show Review"

Under the unique combination of lights and symphonic sound, fans were ready to experience something like they have before while those who haven’t seen them before were about to experience a journey like no other, blogspot readers. Makeshift Prodigy wasted no time in taking everyone on an incredible journey through sight and sound to which not only inspires but motivates the mind, body and soul all at once.

For those who have seen them live, it’s like reliving a moment in time when music instantly grabs you by the heart thus whisking you away to where there will be a non-televised Revolution …you can be Chasing Daylight of new hopes and dreams while feeling Alive within your soul. For those who were experiencing this musical phenomenon for the first time, SouthSide quietly observed how the music instantly uplifted their spirits as they boarded Makeshift’s journey through inspirational symphonic/rock music.

This isn’t the first time this reviewer has seen this happen during one their shows where new listeners to this band’s music suddenly changes them. Whenever Makeshift performs, blogspot readers, something incredible literally happens throughout the crowd …it’s a like a music revolution of sorts where people gravitate towards a higher conscious …perhaps music (like Makeshift Prodigy) could be to world peace.

Who knows but one thing is for sure - this band has the magic touch when you’re feeling a bit down or when you need that motivation to continue forward and onward. Take all three albums by this band - Welcome To the World, Mathematica and Illuminate (the new one), somewhere you will find a song or two that will inspire your soul knowing having hopes and dreams isn’t dead. For instance take Some Kind of Miracle (off Illuminate) or Sirens (off Mathematica) in which Makeshift’s lyrics seem to be based off personal experience from front man Anthony as he poured heartfelt emotions into each word to make you feel something tingling in the heart.

As SouthSide mentioned earlier …this band has magic power. This summer you can feel as well as experience that same magic power with they perform at Lollapalooza in Grant Park on August 4 if you’re lucky enough to score tickets. Don’t despair, this band will making appearances around town or somewhere near you soon, blogspot readers.

"Makeshift Prodigy - New upcoming band"

If you are in the mood for some highly polished rock music - take heed to Makeshift Prodigy - they have a fairly large following in Kenosha, WI, and also in the Southern Suburbs of Chicago. They are made up of some very talented musicians. Next time they are playing a show I will be sure to keep you all updated. Currently they are in the studio working on their next project, “The Great Machine” - it looks to be their most ambitious recording yet. Complete with a hard hitting rhythm section and swirling soundscapes by the very talented Jake Foy, MSP serves you some fun rock with catchy melodies - a quick serving of tasty music for anyone looking for a great, albeit crowded, weekend night.

Bio

One of the most gratifying moments an artist is able to experience is when they are given the opportunity to share their art. ..::makeshiftprodigy

Since the November 2012 release of their Atlantic Records debut EP Illuminate, the Chicago-based alternative art-rock band Makeshift Prodigy has been touring nonstop, sharing their music with fans from coast to coast. The last of 3 tours the band was apart of this year, ended last month, and since, they been diligently working on finishing their upcoming full-length album on Atlantic that is set for release in early 2014.

From building a lighting system that they have programmed to match their songs and sounds for their live shows, to recording and producing all of their music in the home studio built by Joe Bauer (drums/programming), this band puts everything they have into creating their sound, by themselves, to share with their fans, friends, and family.

We have a little bit different approach to our live show than most bands, Brandon Fox explains, We see the performance as a whole. We create songs, we create a light show, we create movement and drama on stage its a complete package. Its meant to be as visually appealing as it is sonically.

Cultivating genuine relationships with their growing number of fans is what MP does. During a show theres a one-on-one connection with every single person in the crowd and still to this day, we make sure we hang out after the show to foster interaction, Bauer explains. Ultimately, we make music because we want to touch people and impact their lives, and when we hear personal stories about how our songs helped people get through tough times, thats the ultimate validation.

MPs musical influences is a collection of diverse artists ranging from Radiohead, Muse, The Deftones, and Nirvana to Bjork, Ryan Adams, and Usher, MP works to establish a completely pure, open-minded environment in which they can all naturally express themselves.

With cathartic climaxes and anthem-like choruses, they are often compared to the musical styles of Muse and Coldplay. Pained lyrics and soaring, high-pitched vocals, united with relentlessly mesmerizing rhythmic drumming are often compared to Radiohead and Mute Math. In pursuit of creating an evolution of their brand of artistic and expressive alternative rock, Makeshift Prodigys Illuminate displayed the essential sounds and emotions their music has grown to be.

After releasing of their EP Illuminate, MP received many great reviews and were invited to play at Lollapalooza this year, in their hometown Chicago. A dream for any band, and an experience Makeshift Prodigy is grateful to have been apart of.

The band is looking forward to sharing new music from their full-length album with fans next year.

A song is something that you slave over, put tears and joy into, craft and create and then, once its done, once it has all of your meaning and emotion in it, you give it to a fan to take it and make of it whatever they want it to be, to mean whatever they want it to mean. Anthony Bagnara
