"Beach Fest a Huge Success With Country Night"

The 10th annual Beachfest in Round Lake Beach got off to a fast start with “Country Night” on Friday featuring Mandy Z & Rural Route 1 opening for Bella Cain. Alas, rain dampened things a little on Saturday.

“It was amazing. We had one of the biggest crowds we ever had Friday night,” said Kevin Wallace, chairman of Beachfest.

“Belle Cain just got back from Austin, Texas, and Mandy Z & Rural Route 1 came back from the Country Music Awards [CMA Fest, Fan Fair] in Nashville,” he said...

"Songwriters for Cody - Nashville"

Hundreds of people gathered at Smiley Hollow Sunday to help raise money and show support for a young Robertson County father suffering from a rare and deadly brain tumor.

Cody Adcock, 21, was diagnosed late last year with glioblastoma multiforme after doctors found an inoperable tumor in his brain. Since then, Adcock, who has a 2-year-old son, has been out of work and battling for time against a disease that recently claimed Morgan Hutcherson, a Cottontown woman who succumbed after a 16-month-struggle.

Sunday’s event included a motorcycle ride and music and entertainment event at Smiley Hollow in Goodlettsville. It featured inflatables, putt-putt golf, an exotic petting zoo, music performances on two stages and more. The event was a homecoming for Cody, who grew up less than two miles away from Smiley Hollow.

Cody Adcock rode to the event with his father, David, on the back of a motorcycle. Cody said it was amazing to ride into the venue and see hundreds of people there to offer support.

“It shows that a lot of people care,” he said. “And that means a lot.”

A balloon release ceremony was held as a show of unity in the fight against cancer. About 1,500 purple, yellow and gray balloons were sent airborne by the Adcock family and gathered supporters. The gray balloons represented brain cancer victims, yellow balloons represented childhood cancer victims and the purple balloons were to honor Morgan Hutcherson.

A prayer was spoken before the balloons were released.

“If you believe in God and you pray to God, He will help you,” David Adcock said. “I do believe that prayer is the cure.”

Besides family and friends in the community, musicians from across the country performed at the event. Mandy Zahn, who leads the band Mandy Z and Rural Route One, has been personally touched by brain cancer.

“I have a brother that I lost to an inoperable brain tumor as well as a cousin,” Zahn said. “My brother was diagnosed when he was 26 with a wife and two little girls and we lost him when he was 29. My cousin was 9 and we lost him when he was 12. So this is something that was very near and dear to my heart.”

David Adcock offered thanks to the community for the prayer.

“I really appreciate this from the bottom of my heart,” he said. “There’s not enough words in the world or in the dictionary to tell people how I feel about this.”

"Mandy Z & Rural Route One"

Next in my series of Artists featured in my Photo Album this month is Mandy Z & Rural Route One. Don’t let this “Local” Lady of Country Music fool ya’…she’s a Firecracker on Stage, full of energy and yet can sing a Country Ballad so sultry that it leaves the boys breathless (sorry fellas, she’s taken).

This “Texaco Country Showdown” 4th Place Finalist Band has already made an impact on not only
the local scene, but nationally as well. With her fellow cohorts, Bob Lindsley, Patrick “Hutch” Hutchins, Jim Roxworthy and Bart Alonzo, they round out this talented beauty with great harmonies as well as their musical talents, providing “Rockin’ Country” their way! They have been instrumental in lending their talents to various local Charities, even on short notice, they prove their versatility and professionalism in helping out those less fortunate by providing quality entertainment and support to families in need.

Not only is Mandy a talented singer, but also an accomplished songwriter as well. Her song “Drinkin’ Song” written in collaboration with another local musician has been played live and been well received by local venues, local and national radio stations and been danced to by country line dancers around the area…

A singer since she was a child, this girl dreamed of becoming more than just a pretty face who can sing…her recent and greatest accomplishment to date will be coming on November 17th of this year, when she and her band will make their “BIG DEBUT” in Nashville, TN at Tootsies Orchid Lounge! She knows what she wants…and by the looks and sounds of it…she’ll get it!!! Be sure to check her out at a venue near you and check out her page “Mandy Z & Rural Route One” for tour dates… - C2E Photography

Singer/Songwriter/Entertainer - MANDY Growing up in a small town of 1300 people at the time, coming from a very large family, all whom are musically oriented, it was no surprise, that Mandy knew by the age of 5 that she was going to follow in the footsteps of her Mother, Father, Brother, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
