Bio

New Orleans native Myochi Eboné Johnson’s earliest memory is of music. During her childhood, she would her heart out with a microphone in her hand standing on the red ottoman in her grandmother’s living room, dreaming that one day she would perform in front of millions. She progressed from the ottoman to talent shows and church choirs as she got older.

Like most dreamers, after high school, Myochi went to college to follow a “safe” career.  She matriculated at Fisk University and received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology; afterwhich, she received completed the requirements for certification as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist from a joint program from Tennessee State University and Meharry Medical College.  Her hopes were to become a physician but a turning point in her life began after attending an Urban Gospel Music Conference held at a Nashville church. Myochi’s dormant desires of making a career in music began to awaken. She ditched the MCATs, hired a vocal coach, grabbed her pen and pad, and prepared for the beginning of her professional musical career. She was ready for her more.

In 2010, Myochi recorded her first three singles – Shy Guy, Stay and Nobody. The singer-songwriter paved her way as an eclectic R&B soul artist in Nashville, Tenn.  Two years later, she released her first single on October 4, 2012 entitled ‘I Salute You’ and her debut album ‘No Regrets’ on November 15, 2012.

In 2011, she began Myochi Music Company, acting as her own independent label and publisher, which became incorporated in 2012. In 2013, Myochi opened for Danity Kane’s band member, Dawn Richard, at Summer Reign Concert in New Orleans. She also was also a featured artist in Street Report Magazine’s July 2013 issue.

On a trip to the Bahamas, she had the opportunity to sit down with DJ JChris at 91.7 FM, Bahamas’ hottest R&B, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Rap and Pop radio station. Myochi has been nominated by the Nashville Independent Music Awards (NIMAs) three times in the category of R&B/Soul, and most recently received a performance of the year nomination from the Southern Entertainment Awards (SEAs) in 2014.

Myochi defines music as her life and love as her muse.  What is created can be infused with a multitude of inspiration ranging from Hip-Hop to contemporary country music. Her goal is to spread light and love through her music. One will hear just that in every lyric. This talented artist is not just a singer/songwriter. She’s a Soul Storyteller. The vocal descendent of the legendary Sade and Aretha Franklin and the unofficial protégé of Jill Scott, Myochi brings a realness to her craft that’s often lacking in today’s music industry. “We're real people. We live real lives,” she says. “I don't want to just sing about topical things that change from day to day. What happened to feelings and emotion? Since when is it not ok to be human? I want to do real music that touches people's hearts and makes them think...”
