Nagasaki is a trio that whips up a thundering wallop of funk, reggae, and metal fusion played with virtuoso musicianship. Nagasaki is one of Toronto’s most entertaining monster metal bands, and one of the few in which Darth Vader is likely to guest on lead guitar. They are a wildly entertaining collision of heavy metal with classic Japanese monster movie visuals. Nagasaki’s smoke machines and lights have graced the stages of Québec City, Montréal, Pererborough, and Burlington. In Toronto, Nagasaki has deafened audiences at the Opera House, the El Mocombo, the Big Bop, the Bovine Sex Club among other venues.
Fan favourites include songs like “Go fishing” – featuring Godzilla performing shredding guitar solos on the giant flying V. “DJs sucks” is a disco metal anthem that takes the piss out of both DJs and Nagasaki itself. “Pornstar” falls more in the alternative metal genre, although like most Nagasaki tracks, song structures tend to be warped angry cauldrons, with loud, angular, shredding guitar, quenched with whimsical lyrics.
Nagasaki has a debut CD available at shows as well as a live performance DVD.
Nagasaki, simply put, is heavy. Very heavy.
