"See You Later, Space Cowboy"

"...he shifts gears between the locomotive blues of Galactic North, trippy pop, ambient groove (The Grassy Seas Of Ganymede, anyone?) and the sweetly stoned acoustica of Blue Skies For Miles - all without missing a beat." - Sydney Morning Herald

"See Ya Later, Space Cowboy"

"Gaunt has become a rock ’n’ roll craftsman who writes, records and releases his songs while playing as many shows as possible. " - Sunday Times

"Let There Be Headlights"

‘He combined the swagger and attitude of Cash and Elvis while all the time sounding like Robert Plant’s lost son.”

“Gaunt doesn’t just perform, he puts on a show. He reaches out with his undeniable energy and enthusiasm, making it almost impossible not to be infected.”
- X-Press Magazine, Australia

"Headlights on the Hills"

"Gaunt proves...that Neil Finn might have some competition when it comes to crafting sadly beautiful valentines." - Sydney Morning Herald

"Nathan Gaunt Live"

“To describe Gaunt is to steal from him, to reduce the work to nothing more than incoherent ramble. Words seem so inadequate when the music gives so much more.”

“I was taken from the depths of pain to the peaks of love and everywhere in between.”

“When you listen, you know the music. It is familiar to the heart, to the mind, to your fears and wildest dreams. It was like knowing what the next line would be, because you have lived the music, lived the lies, and lived the truth that shines like beams of sincerity through the phenomenal sound that could be no one other than Nathan Gaunt.”

- Metior, Australia

"Nathan Gaunt Live"

“Those there were bedazzled, overcome and totally swamped by brilliant musicianship, heavenly vocals and amazing songs...”

“With his heart on his sleeve and an undeniable talent for penning a tune that spans the influences of many world music genres, Gaunt cemented his place as a brilliant performer, and a conductor of musical flair and emotion.”
- Hype Magazine, Australia

"Nathan Gaunt Live"

“One minute playing the possessed rock star...into...punchy eastern sounds... seduces the audience with his trademark 12 string guitar, then sits down with his slide to wail the possessed lyrics of (a) blues anthem...”

“...Gaunt knows exactly when to animate his songs, working the crowd into a frenzy, then when to simply let his rock'n'roll speak for itself.”

“Not many can do what Nathan Gaunt does, bellow with so much passion that the room literally nears combustion.”

“...(Gaunt’s music will ) one minute will hold your bleeding heart tenderly, 'til it calms, then morph into a wailing beast taking you to a hell like no other.”

“It is no surprise, Gaunt's baffling talent was meant to be witnessed by as many people as possible...”

- X-Press Magazine

Bio

“Count us as believers.” - Hits Magazine, Los Angeles

“ combined the swagger and attitude of Cash and Elvis while all the time sounding like Robert Plant's lost son..." -X-Press Magazine, Australia

“(Nathan Gaunt) would have been at home in the 1960s and 70s, mixing it with such prodigies as Todd Rundgren and Tim Buckley.” -Sydney Morning Herald

“I can’t sing something I don’t believe in,” says Australian award-winning singer, songwriter, and musician Nathan Gaunt. “I wish I could – it would be so much easier because I could detach myself from it. But it’s kind of cool because it teaches me to stand by what I say. Everything I’ve ever written I’ve believed in.” He adds with a smile,
“At the time.”

Nathan Gaunt recently made believers out of the American music industry when trade publication Hits Magazine chose him as “One to Watch,” on the eve of the release of his latest album, Fade Away My Sweet Horizon, an album created specifically for release in America.

Once called “the most underrated songwriter in the country” (Rockus Magazine,
Australia), Nathan Gaunt’s has gone on to win four WAMi Awards (the Western Australian Music Industry’s version of the Grammy) for “Best Guitarist.” Add to that a few more awards for “Best Male Vocalist,” and “Best Blues Act,” and you’ll find a mantle that seats eight prestigious awards.

He has toured extensively worldwide, including dates in Europe and India, but Nathan Gaunt is now focusing his efforts on the United States.

After several short tours of America, playing in such acclaimed venues as the Barns at Wolf Trap (Vienna, VA), Highline Ballroom (New York, NY), McCabe’s (Santa Monica, CA), Doug Fir Lounge (Portland, OR), Maxwell’s (Hoboken, NJ) and Hotel Café (Hollywood, CA), it has become clear that America is the place for Nathan Gaunt to be. This summer, he relocated to the US, landed himself two New York City residencies (one at Gavin DeGraw’s club National Underground on the Lower East Side, and one in the West Village), plus added several more notorious venues onto his constantly growing resume: the Birchmere (Alexandria, VA), the Ram’s Head On Stage (Annapolis, MD), and in late August, a slot at the legendary BB King Blues Club in New York, NY. During the last two years in the US, he has opened for varied and eclectic musicians such as Shawn Colvin, Carrie Rodriguez, Robben Ford, Freedy Johnston, Steve Forbert and Lucy Kaplansky.

Which brings us back to Fade Away, My Sweet Horizon. Reflective of his solo acoustic shows, Fade Away My Sweet Horizon includes tracks from Nathan’s recent Australian albums, including:

See Ya Later, Space Cowboy –a roots/rock/sci-fi/western themed album released in 2009, of which the Sunday Times (Australia) said, "Gaunt has become a rock ’n’ roll craftsman.”

Halcyon Dazed - an internet-only trip-hop/rock album released in 2007, which the Sydney Morning Herald called "...the best of trip-hop, prog and alt-rock, soaring like some lost track from Radiohead's OK Computer,” and said that the album contained “enough raw power to be tapped as an alternative energy source."

Headlights on the Hills - a country/rock/jazz album released in 2006, which the Sydney Morning herald proclaimed of Gaunt, "Neil Finn might have some competition when it comes to crafting sadly beautiful valentines."

Fade Away My Sweet Horizon also showcases songs that have become favorites of his live show – including “Yatra,” a show-stopping instrumental performance on 12-string guitar, which was written during a tour of India.

The Sydney Morning Herald recently asked the question, “...is geography the only thing preventing this one-man band from becoming a serious contender?”

America, it is time to respond. And Nathan Gaunt is here; ready to hear your answer.
