Invisible Caine

NZW

2003 släppte bandet ep:n Cognitive Eclipse med bland annat hiten Phonecall to God.

"Invisible Caine Review (ENG)"

Evil Dr. Smith: Nifters from Norrköping (Sweden) plays some kind of punky hard rock, pimped with gothic metal and nu-metal. That's a rather surprising blend of genres, considering the fact the band is related with the melodic death-thrashers Dimension Zero (singer Jocke Göthberg is the drummer in Nifters). Jocke was the second singer of Marduk as well, way back in the early nineties. In Nifters we have another vocalist, which is the sore throat of one Mats Larsson, who also proves to sing quite melodic and also with a rebellious twisted angle.

His voice reminds me of a combination of Kory Clarke's bravery (Warrior Soul), Jonathan Davies' arrogance and Marilyn Manson's venomous bites. The music is however slightly more in the vein of the bands they've supported in the past: Backyard Babies, Hardcore Superstars (but without the glam and with a lot more metal) and especially Mustasch (but without their grooves). The band doesn't hold down, the songs are pretty diverse, but is accessible enough to gain airplay on the alternative radio. The reason why I'm not completely overwhelmed by this album might be because of those poppy arrangements, which cause a slight predictable effect in the songs. It made me think of Entombed trying to write a Top 40 hit. Considering their commercial potential it's rather dangerous to call the first single 'If This One Becomes A Hit I Swear I Am Going To Kill Myself', but no worries: they're still alive.

70/100 - Lords of Metal

"Invisible Caine Review (DE)"

Eine ordentliche Punk-Attitüde bringt dagegen "Salieri", während das auch als Single ausgekoppelte "If This One Becomes A Hit I Swear I Am Going To Kill Myself" wohl dem melancholischen Rock zuzuordnen ist.

"A Favour In Vain" verbindet dann gleich mehrere Spielarten in einem Song.

"If this one... Review (SWE)"

Riktigt, riktigt bra!”

"Allein Review (ENG)"

Nifters - Allein CD-EP (Black Juju Records UJUJ 13)
This is a very short 2 track (7 minutes) EP from this Swedish 4 piece outfit. The band were formed as a punk rock band in 1999 and these roots are still there in these recordings which are much more like an aggressive early Nirvana like vocals (rough yet melodic at times) but a melodic guitar (even some guest keyboards) meets the poppy Soundtracks of our lives. Clearly the band is going for a radio friendly sound. Allein even reminds me of Metallica a little at times. Reality will Kill Me, is a more aggressive song with a sing along like backing vocal, like the old punk anthems, but this is much more metallic sounding in nature, yet melodic. They keyboard line in this track gives the track a sort of gothic flavour (Cult of Luna??). This was pretty cool and interesting. I look forward to hearing the new full length CD!

"Allein Review (ENG)"

Nifters are from Sweden and I think I already heard them on a split 7". If I remember good they had more 70s sound. On this CD that sound is disappeared. It's a bit hard to compare them with some other band. There is a bit of grungy (Nirvana) sound, but not so heavy and metalish, also some gothic and psychedelic moments, noise, loud guitars, fuzz. In few words - Nifters are schizophrenic and chaotic gothic grunge punk. As always, great stuff from Black Juju.

Bio

For your convenience there are conventions to be followed, and in some ways Nifters adapt to them. They use Guitars, drums, bass, vocals, and the songs contains verse and chorus and bridge. Because of this they have no reason to call the music anything but; Rock.

The members of Nifters are wellreputed hardworking men and therefore you might recognize them from other constellations such as; Rawhypnols, where vocalist Mats Larsson also plays the Bass and Guitarist Johan Söderhielm also is to be found. Drummer Jocke Göthberg appears on vocals in Dimension Zero and have a past as singer in the famous black metalband Marduk. Guitarist Zwedda is also the singer in Devils whorehouse and have a past in wellknown crustact Acursed. Martin Thornell on bass is also guitarist in the most excellent rockband General Wu.

Since the boarding in 99 Nifters have released several records and recorded three videos. Fullength album Invisible Caine (NZW-records) and the album Zalvatore Caine Inc (Killer Cobra records) are to be found everywhere (iTunes, Spotify etc).
The new album is recorded and will be released 2013 at Killer Cobra Records

Rumors are true, Nifters have already toured Germany, and played in five big capitals; Prague, London, Berlin, Copenhagen and of course Stockholm. Opening for bands like Backyard Babies, Hardcore Superstar, Entombed, Jorn and Mustasch Nifters are a trustworthy liveact.
