"Peirson Ross: The Lost EP"

Peirson Ross, whose songs reward more active listening than your typical indie-roots artists, digitally released "The Lost EP" - a collection of six songs in November [2008]. The songs contain familiar sounds, but Ross develops something new and magical through his production work, following his own musical whims instead of strictly abiding by traditional folk-rock lines. These six songs, modest but never spare, change shape one from the next, taking in elements of church music, old time blues, and folk rock. His lyrics reveal thoughts and emotions that many do not care to admit let alone share with the world.

"The Lost EP" is an atmospheric and textural journey. Ross has found a way to bathe his distinctive melodies and vocal nuances in a solution that make one reevaluate his voice and his songwriting abilities. This latest release has a darker tone than his last album, "A Boy Caught on Words" but the listener can only be drawn in closer because of its timelessly memorable melodies and production. - New York Daily News

"Gotta Have It"

"An Unforgettable Live Experience"

"An old soul with a young heart. ’This one good thing lets Peirson Ross give it all away’. An unforgetable live experience"! - CBC Radio

An Introduction to Peirson Ross

A Boy Caught on Words

The Lost EP

“All the Things You Never Wanted" is a rootsy, acoustic affair from Canadian singer-songwriter Peirson Ross. The poet with a six-string’s vocals reminds us of Dave Matthews. Ross’ breathy cooing mingles beautifully with female harmonics and subtle, jazzy horns. It’s a mellow song about redemption and staying focused on your true passions.”

Bio

Toronto based singer-songwriter Peirson Ross is breaking the mould of traditional folk music with his experimental, world-influenced melodies. His openness and intuitive understanding of musical instrumentation are exhibited in his natural ability to “take something old and put his original twist on it”. The editors at iTunes have called Peirson a “poet with a six-string's vocals who reminds fans of a cross between Dave Matthews, Jeff Buckley and Nick Drake”.

In October of this year, Peirson completed two 6 song EPs entitled Reverse & Ready (Side A & Side B) which are now available for purchase on iTunes and at his new online store. In conjunction with Reverse & Ready, Peirson has begun performing again in New York and co-producing his latest band project with Brooklyn bassist Jason Mercer (Ani Defranco, Ron Sexsmith, Luther Wright & the Wrongs++) which is comprised of 3 new songs recorded live-off-the-floor in Park Slope, Brooklyn. The Stoop Sale Sessions feature Marshall Bureau on drums, Jason Mercer on Bass, Josh Williams on Harmonica and piano and Rebecca Ramone on vocals. Although the majority of the tracks were recorded live at Jason's, a few overdubs were added due to a last minute invitation to record at a legendary studio facility on West 54th St. Peirson will be recording his official Canadian release show at venerable Toronto venue, Hugh’s Room, with his full band and special guests on December 1st. Copies of Reverse & Ready will be available at the show and the R&R Live at Hugh's Room will be available for purchase on iTunes along with The Stoop Sale Sessions on December 23rd, 2009.
