"PHASE REVERSE album review @ www.rockrace.gr"

'Phase Reverse' is one of the few power stoner trios (in their own words: “the flesh and bones of a Rock band " in Greek metal Scene. Their Heavy Rock is flavoured with stoner and groovy smells and its debut album is actually able to break all of your bones! So ... don’t play with fire guys, cause you might get burned! TRACK BY TRACK Track 1. ‘Cross to bear’ The war horns are screaming…The demon awakes… Heavy catchy riffs and a stoner and doomy atmosphere is coming over me! Absolutely great! Track 2. ‘I got your back’ Melodies, fits and breaks, screams and roars…great! What’s any more? Track 3. ‘Eye to eye’ The bass guitar stares at you, eye to eye contact, soaring vocals, groovy-made art gig. Track 4. ‘Crash n burn’ Classic guitars, calmness, a chorus suitable for on stage conditions, Yeah, babe! That’s my crash-y home! Track 5. ‘Death ride’ Dynamic and powerful guitar riffs and solos, Lemmy-like vocals and it’s getting hot in here, honey! This vagrancy is so exciting! Track 6. ‘Road fever’ Down is one of the godfathers of 'Phase Reverse', sludge, stoner, doom and AC/DC smells here! 4/4 rhythm grabs you, by the balls as Tas’s vocals magnetize you! This song is definitely one of the highlights on the CD! Track 7. ‘Wide awake (phase reverse)’ The southern metal now is caltivated Greece! This band is grossly good!!! Track 8. ‘Changes’ Furious guitars and crazy rhythms, cloudy atmosphere, a calm voice that is going to bust like thunder! Track 9. ‘Who gives a damn’ Stone, fire, death and groove sermonizing with an up-to-date mood. Too heavy to be lifted riffs as well! Track 10. ‘High hopes’ One of the most emotional songs of the album. This dead calm prepares you for the upcoming thunderous storm! Track 11. ‘Long gone’ This is the last groovy nine minute sting of the album, with some of the catchiest and staccato riffs. If only it would continues… ROCKRACE OPINION Sometimes things are so damn simple... 'Phase Reverse' plays blistering Stoner, Doom Heavy Rock. This Greek Metal sensation with the seedbed Southern touch is clearly stigmatic with the entire cargo of drudged and lusty efforts. Their homonymous debut album includes eleven (great) tracks just waiting to be unleashed (not just to the east!) and to be played loud! This "Phase" leaves you alone into the warfare of riffs of some mini-masterpieces that are well-hidden on the CD and incorporates 'Phase Reverse' into a highly promising band of the Heavy Rock/Stoner Greek metal scene! A great effort all in all! . - Elias Papadopoulos This article is the intellectual proprietary of Rockrace

Phase Reverse album review from JukeBox Metal ! by
Phase Reverse - Phase Reverse Two short years seems to be all it has taken for Phase Reverse to get from their formation to their first full-length album, playing live constantly in the mean time and recording their self-titled debut with no label support. The result is something for fans of crushing southern rock. Every track combines Down's heavy groove with Zakk Wylde solos (note John Stergiou's solo in the breathtaking the second half of ballad High Hopes) and Molly Hatchet's acute sense of building a catchy song around muscular riffs. Much like Wylde achieved with his much-missed Pride & Glory outfit, in actual fact. Some tracks take on a mean groove (Long Gone) while others follow a Lynyrd Skynyrd melody without losing the heaviness of their Down influences. In short everything here is pure rock, or ''ROCK'' as the trio themselves put it. Vocalist (also bassist) Tas Ioannidis' voice is both gritty and melodic, stopping short of Phil Anselmo's growl at one end and country rock at the other. He can bark over Alex Alexiou's pummelling drums on the heavy tracks, and hit every note on the softer moments, sounding at home doing both. And the bands own production is a perfect middle ground between polished and rough ... ideal for this kind of rock. This record can't fail to appeal to any fan of heavy, southern rock/metal, and doesn't put a foot wrong for its full hour length. - Written by Andy Lye

Who are they: A Greek, Athens based, heavy metal power trio. Just the basics - guitar, bass and drums; with ...bassist Tas Ioannidis doubling up on vocals. What's It Like: The band's eponymous debut album was recorded at Reaction Studios in Greece during... August to December 2008, with John Stergiou in the production seat and using analogue technology during the recording and mixing phases. The result is a powerful set that sounds like Black Sabbath meet Metallica with a little Nickelback emo thrown in for good measure. Sadly, from their sound, you wouldn't know they weren't from the UK or America. But that's the effect of rock globalisation for you. Should I Buy: A promising debut, and on some of the softer more commercial moments (Crash N Burn, for example) the band demonstrate they have the potential for reaching an audience beyond just metal heads. Check them out at www.phasereverse.com - http://getreadytorock.com

Phase Reverse - Phase Reverse Thursday, March 11, 2010 Time for something a bit heavier, and move to sunnier climes. From Greece comes power metal trio Phase Reverse with their self-titled eleven track debut. Well, I say power metal - it actually fluctuates between heavy rock and heavy metal. Take the utterly wonderful Road Fever. It has a strong, driving rhythm and makes use of the more heavy metal sounding guitars, except in the solo which is a scorcher but not a shred. For a good bit of shredding check out Eye To Eye - John Stergiou, who is also responsible for mixing and mastering the album, has a terrific touch and really gets a range out of his instrument. High Hopes, for example, is much more laid back, understated and the drifting tones of the guitar with the languid rise and fall of Alex Alexiou's drums and Tas Ioannidis' echoing bass make for one hell of a song. Even when the guitar picks up the rhythm under the same mellow vocals and into the solo it's not not jarringly out of place - the track retains the laidback feel but acquires that little edge of intensity. I should put in a quick word for Ioannidis' vocals as well. He has a fantastic voice. I have a suspicion that he could really let rip and belt it out, that he is being slightly restrained and not feeling the need to show off his full range. But he doesn't need to and it would probably have been a negative if he had. Stergiou has done a really good job with the production which balances the vocals and instruments as one coherent package, and what a package it is. - Posted in Music by Graceful Degradation

Bio

Since the early stages of the band (Oct 2007) a common question was born in fans mind regarding the music style of the quarter that came from the South European territory… Country Blues riffs with Hardcore elements and groovy rhythm section… Not quite Metal, Not quite Rock… Just “Southern European Pentatonic Heavy Metal” or simply “SEPHM”, Unique style? No, not at all. There are billions of songs floating around the universe of internet which is unlikely to create something unique. It’s just an 100% personalized result from 4 unique persons (yes, we believe in human uniqueness).
