Bra greier! - Evig Lyttar

"Terrorizer Magazine, UK"

This Norwegian four-piece have an authentic punk belligerence to go along with their head-stomping, swinging tunes that sound like Future of the Left combined with the filthiest blues-rock imaginable. "We're generally of the opinion that you can fuck off if you don't like it" is their collective attitude to any critic brave enough to sling a brick bat their way. "We want to capture the energy we have as a live band and our humanness. Expect stripped back, lo-fi versions of what we've done earlier". (SRJ) - Terrozer

"Big Cheese Magazine"

Forming in 2006, Sassy Kraimspri are a punk band from far and wide (featuring members from Norway, America and Australia!), based in Stavanger, Norway. Fusing together punk, grunge and alt-rock elements, the four-piece are out to captivate the world with their on-point killer tracks. Set to release the third part of their EP trilogy, 'Cock Fight I, II, and III' later this year, the second section of their trilogy was released in the UK on the 7th of July, a continuation of their high-voltage hits. Drawing influence from the likes of Black Sabbath, Beastie Boys and Billie holiday, the band also take reference from everything from '30s blues all the way up to '90s stoner slugdge to ensure their sound is as unique as their band name. Sassy Kraimspri are bringing their eclectic live show to the UK this September, with their performance at the Camden Underworld hotly tipped as one we certainly do not want to miss. - Big Cheese Magazine

"Sassy Kraimspri- Cock Fight"

Bringing the band’s trilogy of Cock Fight EPs in one riotous slab of essential rock ‘n’ roll, multinational rockers Sassy Kraimspri have unleashed a must have punk ‘n’ rock album of 2015 for all those yet to lay their destined to be lustful paws on the band’s previous releases. Consisting of musicians hailing from Norway, America, and Australia, the Stavanger hailing quartet have a sound to turn a party into a riot and a riot into unbridled debauchery, as evidenced in full explosive might by Cock Fight.

Sassy Kraimspri now consists of vocalist/guitarist Ida Collett Belle, guitarist Richard Belle, bassist Linda Pedersen, and Etienne on drums, the band itself emerging in 2006 with a sound which is part heavy rock, part punk, part rock pop, and all merciless seduction on body and soul. 2008 saw the release of debut album Dirty White Lies, the band just a duo back then of Ida Collett and drummer Tash Adams, who found success in Australian band SheRex. Three years later The Pussy Magnet EP was uncaged from the foursome, a well-received encounter recorded, as the Cock Fight EPs with producer Russ Russell (Napalm Death, The Wildhearts, Dimmu Borgir). Alongside these and the subsequent releases now making up the album, the band’s live presence has only grown and drawn continual acclaim, Sassy Kraimspri sharing stages with the likes of Skambankt, Melissa Auf der Maur, Casiokids, and Djerv along the way whilst playing in countries such as Canada, Norway, Australia, China, Germany, and the UK. The Cock Fight EPs awoke a new blaze of support and recognition in 2014, but together as Riot they forge one inescapable persuasion breeding full pleasure and in turn anticipation for the band’s sophomore album they are currently working on.

Looking at the songs in the order of the promo sent over (the actual order may differ on the release), the energies are ignited straight away with opener When It Rains, It Pours. Instantly gripping beats set ears and appetite off, their bait swiftly reinforced and matched by a heavily throated bassline. They alone set the tone for the enjoyment to be found across the release, but are a mere teaser for the rest of the track, and its subsequent companions, as guitars and vocals engage in magnetic enterprise and invigorating incitement. The song is a contagious affair, relatively restrained compared to some but an unrelenting weave of grooves and hooks that takes a firm hold of ears and appetite before making way for the outstanding Like a Drug. A spicy bass groove sets the lustful fun in motion, its gravelly twang the spark to a rhythmic swagger and similarly striding riffs. Like a blend of L7 and Breeders with the virulence of Spinnerette and punkish unpredictability of The Raincoats included, band and track bounce through ears like a sonic epidemic, infecting senses and psyche with its ferocious devilry.

COCK FIGHT coverReputation Radio/RingMaster Review Current single Riot brings its riveting brawl forth next, again grooves and hooks an almost salacious flirtation as fiercely enticing beats and a grizzly bassline set down a primal lure. As its predecessor, the track has its claws in body and vocal chords quickly, it’s anthemic drive and roar a puppeteer under the influence of Ida Collett’s bellowing voice. The exceptional incitement is followed by the punk rock tenacity of Bad Disease, a track expelling antagonistic beauty like a mix of Bikini Kill and The Donnas with a little touch of The Slits to it. Submission is immediate and long term as it is with the punchier and more predatory Clay Pigeons. Again it is an offering with a virulent swing as it heads towards a delicious crescendo posing as a chorus where an excellent mix of raw vocals burst from across the band.

Addiction is a full flooding by this point of the release and only intensifies as the song Cock Fight snarls and launches its predacious provocation on ears. With harmonically seductive vocals glancing off its muscular stroll, the track roams ears and emotions with a hard rock adventure to its tempestuously hued landscape. It does feel like it is ready to swing aggressive rhythmic punches and sonic causticity at the drop of a note or syllable but stays in check for another prowling infection, which also best describes the spicier lure of its successor Dig It. A bluesy tinge adds to the drama and resourceful adventure of the song, and though it does not quite match up to the plateau of those before it, a meaty bassline and rumbling rhythms beneath that ever enthralling vocal temptation, ensures it is another unmissable stomp.

Say What is pure rock ‘n’ roll manna, sonic endeavour from the guitars winding around ears as a sultry air hugs smouldering vocals to seduce senses and passions. The song is aural eroticism; a reason to immerse in Sassy Kraimspri all on its own, though that is something you can lay at the romping feet of most encounters within Cock Fight.

There is one last blaze of rebellious revelry on the release, a storming cover of Great Balls Of Fire which lives up to its name in heat and energy whilst taking the punk of Jerry lee Lewis to a new and modern ferocity. It is simply a great end to an outstanding rock ‘n’ roll uproar. If you have the previous EPs making up Cock Fight, you will have to wait a little longer for a new thrill whilst enjoying the encounters you already have but for newcomers to Sassy Kraimspri or part owners of their last trio of offerings, this is all your birthdays for the next decade in one exhausting and thrilling rampage.

Cock Fight is available from June 1st via Lady Luck Records digitally, on CD, and on vinyl.

"Norwegian Sleaze Punk your thing? Check Sassy Kraimspri and their Cock Fight Trilogy"

Posted On 24 Aug 2014By : BruceComment: 0

If there ever was a band that fitted the Temple of Noise criteria, Sassy Kraimspri is it. Do you like that fuzzy warm sound? well then this is not for you. Fuzzy dirty grungy sound ? Thats perfect. How about a 1970’s heavy rock that has been dragged through 90’s grunge and turn up the grunge ? Here you go. Cock Fight 1 is a 3 track ep of bass driven opposite of glam rock that will seriously have you asking “where the hell did this come from ?”

Norway now that you mention it.

Where tons of good punk/metal/rock comes from, Sassy Kraimspri is a 4 piece made up of drummer Etienne the Frenchman, Australian guitarist Dick Deviant, bassist Linda Lustsalot and guitarist and main vocals Sassy Kraimspri, who strangely enough appears to have the least interesting name .

But that fades when you hear her rip out the first track. I might be in the minority, but there is nothing better than a loud hardass rock band belting out music that pumps through your chest coupled with a powerful voice a couple of octaves above the usual growl.

A punk attitude not unlike Brody Dalle or Joan Jett mixed with a sound not unlike a punk Soundgarden . This band delivers all ways. The opening track “When it rains it pours” shows what they are capable of, the title track next up is classic hard rock, whilst the finisher “Dig it” is a knockout.

Their plan for 2104 is to have a Cock Fight 2 and 3 to follow, I cant wait to hear what they have.

Cock Fight II ble spilt inn i Parlour Sound Studios i Kettering, England hos legendariske Russ Russell (Dimmu Borgir, The Wildhearts, The Exploited, Napalm Death). "Sassy Kraimspri Releases "Cock Fight 1" EP"

SASSY KRAIMSPRI's new EP, "Cock Fight 1", was released on January 22 via Lady Luck Records. It is available on seven-inch vinyl, CD as well as digitally.

SASSY KRAIMSPRI started after U.S. expat Sassy moved home to birth country Norway with her Australian husband Dick Deviant. After years of messing around in the underground of New York (where Sass notoriously fired Patti Smith's guitar-genius son from her riot grrrl band because he played too many solos), then Sydney in separate punk rock bands, the couple were ready to get shit started in their new home.

In 2006, after the release of stoner punk single "Toy Boy", the band was praised by New York music blog CMJ.com as "angry, impassioned chick-rock at its most deliriously screeching apex." They played Toronto's North By North East and got a gig at New York punk institution CBGB before they closed their doors forever. The album "Dirty White Lies" was ready for release in 2008 and brought them to countless major festivals in Norway, sharing a stage with STONEGAARD, TURBONEGRO, IDA MARIA as well as garnering a nationwide release and an insane, whirlwind tour in China.

2010 saw the recording of "The Pussy Magnet" EP with U.K. producer Russ Russell (THE EXPLOITED, DIMMU BORGIR, NAPALM DEATH). The EP came out in 2011 and brought them all over Norway. They got opening slots with larger Norwegian acts such as DATAROCK and DJERV and ex-HOLE bassist Melissa Auf Der Maur. The radio in Norway perked up, naming the band exciting newcomers. They rode this success to shows in England and Germany and finished it all off with a performance if songs "Oh My" and "Three" with Krisitiansand Symphony Orchestra accompanying.

The band is now ready to release three more EPs; "The Cock Fight Trilogy". Always tongue-in-cheek, sex, drugs and rock and roll references aside, these new EPs show a growth in subject matter, songwriting and musicianship. Recorded with Russell once again, the aim was to capture the raw, bristling energy the band have become known for live, as well as highlight all their nuances of yearning, hedonism, anxiety and escapism.

"Cock Fight 1" EP track listing:

01. When it Rains, It Pours
02. Cock Fight
03. Dig It

You can listen to the EP on SoundCloud.

"Ny Video: Sassy Kraimspri"

Ivar Vasstveit Ivar Vasstveit 8. oktober 2015 kl. 20.04

Plan: Være kule i utlandet

Fryd.

- byas.no

Lørdagens konsert koster 150 kroner, mens studenter slipper unna 50 kroner billigere. - krsby.no

"Cock Fight II Review"

If you like your music energetic, noisy, to-the-point and downright dirty, then look no further – Sassy Kraimspri is a band that will be right up your street. Their EP Cock Fight II may only be three tracks long and about ten minutes in duration, but it packs a tremendous punch and leaves no room for doubt that this is a formidable offering.

Opener Like A Drug begins with an earworm of a riff that festers into an explosive instrumental section before the vocals kick in. Whilst on the surface this is a track that could perhaps be seen as being rather simplistic, there’s a lot going on if you listen a little closer and it’s an all-round funky little number set to get a few feet tapping along to it. Following track Riot is another strong track, featuring a magnificent and engaging vocal performance from powerhouse frontwoman Sassy Kraimspri.

The final track of the three, Say What, is perhaps the weak link of the three. It doesn’t quite have the energy of the other two tracks, which is a tad disappointing – especially as I was fully expecting the EP to go out with a bang, rather than slow things down with a slower-paced track. It’s a good track, but doesn’t quite have the momentum of the other two.

As a whole, Cock Fight II is a satisfying listen and if this EP is anything to go by, then this is a band that will surely be an absolute riot live!

"Sassy Kraimspri Announce new EP"

Norwegian scumbag punk n rollers Sassy Kraimspri are forging ahead with their relentless quest for domination, by releasing the second in their trilogy of EPs, entitled Cock Fight II on July 7th.

The EP trilogy was recorded by the delectable and infamously-hairy Russ Russell (Napalm Death, The Wildhearts, Dimmu Borgir) out of Parlour Sound Studios in Kettering, UK. Their first EP, Cock Fight I saw its release on January 22nd 2014, garnering incredible reviews and radio play in Norway, the UK, the US and Australia and undeterred Sassy Kraimspri are back to live up to their name with part 2.

Says the axe wielding, fire-breathing, mob-boss mamma Sassy Kraimspri : “I have no idea what our ethos is, the music won’t f*@%ing leave us alone. We HAVE to make it, it BEGS us to play it and DEMANDS people listen. Play or die! The songs on Cock Fight II were written during a dark time, difficult band-relationships, marriages, in the fallout of mourning over a mother’s death, all whilst living in a tiny, uninspired but beautiful outpost in Norway.”

Known for their hard hitting and energetic live shows, the Kraimspri gang will take to the road following the release of their second EP with a forthcoming tour to the UK in May, followed by dates in New York and Norway in June, the festival circuit throughout July and August and then back on the road for more touring of Norway and the UK in September, Germany in October and finishing off the year back in their homeland. And, if this weren’t enough, Kraimspri’s crimespree is set to continue with a forthcoming video for the track Like A Drug, due for release shortly. - soundscapemagazine.com

Sassy Kraimspri are a multinational scumbag punk outfit (Norwegian, American, Australian) from Stavanger, Norway. Hailing to a no-bullshit ethos, the four-piece are two dudes and two chicks who play hard, sing about lust, love, angst and drugs and don’t give a fuck if you do or don’t understand.

Recorded by renowned producer Russ Russell (Napalm Death, The Wildhearts, Dimmu Borgir) at Parlour Sound Studios in the UK, Cock Fight is sludgy rock for fans of anything between PJ Harvey and Black Sabbath. Fusing punk, grunge and rock n roll, Sassy Kraimspri’s clever lyrics and interesting twists on genre-combinations put them in their own exciting musical niche.

"Sassy Kraimspri: Cock Fight II"

Sassy Kraimspri have emerged from the gloom of the Norwegian forests (probably, could be an apartment in Stavanger) and are back in your face with the second installment of their Cock Fight trilogy which sees them heading in a totally new musical direction from their raucous garage punk roots…

Not really, I made that bit up.

If you think Scandinavia is all about Black Metal, corpse paint and silly names (and A-Ha) then Sassy Kraimspri may come as something of a surprise to your ears, channeling a 70s punk ethos and an attitude of not really giving a fuck what anyone thinks. If that sounds a bit garage-punk then it is, and at the same time it isn’t. Sassy Kraimspri are a band who take their time getting things exactly right, and of course having the legendary Russ Russell producing it was never going to sound shit.

Cock Fight II sees the band in their usual full blown Punk’N’Roll mode, grungey guitars, driving rhythms and, of course, the perfect sexy, sleazy, down’n’dirty vocals. Lead single Like A Drug is already making waves (check out the video below), second track Riot makes you want to jump around and break stuff and they even slip in some punked up, sludged out Blues for E.P. closer Say What…

Building on the success of Part 1, Cock Fight II delivers the shot of no-frills adrenaline that is kinda missing from the rock’n’roll landscape these days, it’s not complicated, it’s not clever and it’s definitely not commercial… What’s not to love.

Sassy Kraimspri will be touring the E.P. all over the place, so if you get a chance make sure you go check ’em out.

Sounds like Summer 2014 has its soundtrack. - Cack Blabbath

"Sassy Kraimspri- Cock Fight 2"

Well when you component parts are from Norway, USA and Australia it is no wonder that you should call your band after the oh so interestingly named front woman Sassy Kraimspri and why not follow up your debut EP (Cock Fight 1) with the same animalistic nomenclature by adding +1 to the end.

Cock Fight 2 is a three track blast designed to shake your foundations, stamp on your feet and then kiss them better. It is delivered with plenty of swagger and musical generosity, that you are reminded that indeed rock is not and should not be a male only domain.

Like a Drug opens up the EP with Lovely Linda Lustalot’s bassline that encourages a short guitar burst from Dick Deviant, before Etienne the Frenchman’s drums energetically join the fray. The guitar riff continues as Sassy’s vocals sensually gravitate their way into view. Their names alone suggest that Sassy Kraimspri are playing with plenty of smiles on their faces. The infectious nature of Like a Drug is enhanced by the chant like moments as key changes hit home – “You’re like a drug, I can’t get enough” choruses Sassy as the track picks up the pace and you are more than happy to nod in agreement.

Riot is a comfortable bedfellow sitting neatly at the midway point, the music alternating between a shoe-gazer opening to full powered up rock efforts, the riffs and vocals pouring out in equal measure as the band rush the mind with enough hooks to capture the most elusive of catches.

Like a good wine, Cock Fight 2 is over and leaving you wanting so much more, So What delivers the final notes as Sassy drawls all over the fuzzed up guitars. The pace is reduced a little, but is no less beguiling and the passages of vocals are mere breaks in the over musical haze. It is a fitting epithet to a quality offering from Sassy Kraimspri, here’s hoping that we get another +1 EP in good time!

- The RingMaster Review

"Sassy Kraimspri- Cock Fight Album"

Sassy Kraimspri – Cock Fight
Genre: Punk rock
Release date: 2015
Label: Lady Luck Records
Tracks: 9
Length: 28 minutes
Location: Norway
Personnel: Ida (vocals, guitars), Dick (lead guitars, backing vocals), Linda (bass, backing vocals), Thore/Steinar/Tash (drums)
Previous studio albums: Dirty White Lies (2007), The Pussy Magnet (EP, 2011)

What a lot of good fun this is! With nine songs packed into 28 minutes, each track is a quick blast and a lasting pleasure. This is old-style punk rock, the sort of music that used to top the alternative hit parades in the ’80s and ’90s. Quality always beats quantity in music, and Sassy Kraimspri offer the level of quality that makes this EP worth more than a hell of a lot of hour-long albums. I love the vocals; Ida has a really sexy voice that also oozes eff-you in the nicest way.

"Sassy Kraimspri Releases Cock Fight I"

"Sassy Kraimspri- The Pussy Magnet EP"

I woke up this morning with an idea. I would invent a genre called CLOUTROCK, which is where the music swaggers out of your speakers smoking a cigarette, acts all pissed off about the state of the world, spits chewing gum on your carpet, and then sets about punching your ears in for no particularly obvious reason. Then I remembered Sassy Kraimspri had already done it, and I got sad and tugged the blankets over my face and went back to sleep until it got dark.

But despite that, when I did finally ooze out of bed, it was with a smile on my face and a lump in my Pokémon underpants. And that’s because even though they stole the idea I had five hours ago, this EP is still a good bit of gear, guv. Also it’s fucking free off the internet, so you don’t even have to bother finding somewhere to steal it from.

And why should you take my word for it? Because it’s fucking correct, that’s why.

Here’s what you should notice about this band; even on record, they sound like they’re playing together for the last time ever. You’d think giving a shit about your music would be commonplace among the musical bands of the 21st century, but there’s a fucksight more evidence of that in these three songs than in an entire album by I have no idea what the fuck you people even listen to anymore, so just finish this sentence yourselves, thanks in advance.

Pussy Magnet smashes this EP off the tee and down the fairway – but using a turbo bulldozer, rather than a golf club. And when it lands, it starts doing a dance. It’s mainly a two-minute punky rattle, but it takes in a quick tour of a bunch of different ideas, and even has time to shift down a gear for a mid-eight I guess I am going to describe as ‘swangin’. I like it when short little songs like this find time for a massive dynamic shift, and actually pull it off. It’s well clever mates.

The swing persists into Oh My, which is a song that is stuffed with sexy ideas, a couple of which do not quite fire off. There’s a point where the tune pinches out, and then sort of gradually fades back in, and it really breaks the build of energy throughout the song. But since this is cloutrock, it lasts about ten seconds, and a blow to the head is never far away. You’ll have forgotten all about it by the time you get to the coda; it’s the logical extension of this tune’s build-up, lots of energetic shrieking and cacophonous, clattering instrument abuse.

Hit flops back over to a pop-punk place, and the best comparison I can think of is probably The Pixies, simply on the basis of that classic loud/quiet/loud dynamic shift. Nothing much new there, you’d say, and you’d be right; but it fucking well works here. Especially at the end. The reason for that will be explained below, in a paragraph that will form the conclusion to this review. Allow me to take this opportunity to say I hope you have enjoyed it.

What you get with Sassy Kraimspri is a heavy wall of music that I would describe as solid, confident, energetic, and yet somehow sparing time to think about what it’s doing. But the stand-out feature for me is still the lead vocals, which sound like PJ Harvey going through Ritalin withdrawal.

Sassy Kraimspri will be playing at Twitrfest, at Eddie’s Rock Club, Birmingham on Saturday 12th February, along with some other reprobates. - www.demonpigeon.com

Robert Plants berømte strofe “It’s been a long time since I rock and rolled” var neppe et uttrykk for et slags musikalsk savn.

“There’s waves on the ocean, there’s waves in the sea. But that girl of mine rolls just right for me“.

Harvey, The Black Keys, Goldfrapp, Liz Phair, Queens of the Stone Age og mange flere.

Teksten føyer seg også inn i en eldgammel rocketradisjon, selv om fortellerstemmen her er kvinnelig: “You’ll go down on command. Oh another evening and I’m curling toes“. Subtilt? – På ingen måte. Effektivt? – Absolutt. Moro? – I aller høyeste grad.

Hør godsaken her:

"Pussy Magnet E.P. Review"

I was handed this E.P. to review as Cack Blabbath head honcho, Iain was ‘gushing too much’ about it and wanted me to give a more impartial review. So here we go…

Sassy Kraimspri are a four-piece scumbag punk band (their definition) fronted by the rather stunning Sassy who is joined by husband Tricky Dicky Downfall on guitar, Lovely Linda Lustalot on bass and Stonehard Fatness on drums. One must assume that those were not their given birth names, however punk by definition means that they can call themselves whatever the Hell they want without question.

Based in Norway, Sassy and co traveled over to dear old England to record The E.P. with renowned British producer Russ Russell (who produced records by Dimmu Borgir and Napalm Death, amongst others). What was produced during those sessions was nothing short of remarkable.

Pussy Magnet as a title gives us a clue of what is in store. Here we have gutsy girl-punk, which doesn’t hold back in any way. It’s a massive punky vaginal explosion of music that fills your ears with so much attitude it makes you feel re-energised and ready to grab life by the balls.

There is something new and fresh feeling about this record. Something to get genuinely excited about. Given the genre of punk has been done to death and the word used to describe so many acts – from the Sex Pistols to Paramore – I really think that this is a massive achievement for Sassy and the band.

There are three songs on this particular E.P. The good news is that the entire release is free to listen to on the bands Myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/sassykraimspri) and boy, should you be checking this out!

The first song is the title track Pussy Magnet. There is so much raw energy here that you can’t help but imagine this band playing a killer live set in a little underground club with sweat dripping off the ceiling and your feet sticking to the beer soaked floor as the crowd go crazy at the front. It has a real live feel to it, one of those rare songs where you feel cheated sitting down whilst listening to it. Sassy’s vocals are gnarly, yet feminine and girly enough to leave no doubt that she is a woman with plenty of attitude. I love it! The music is catchy and the riffs are so complimentary to her vocals. It’s one of those records that just seems to work.

The energy flows into the next track Oh My, which continues the high-octane assault on the senses. Last song Hit is yet another attitude packed riff-fest, again full of pumping energy.

So despite my best attempts at giving a less ‘gushy’ review than Iain, I am totally gushing over this. The only negative point I have is that as it is an E.P. there are only three tracks and I want to hear more! Thankfully the band has a previous album called Dirty White Lies available from iTunes. So I will certainly be adding that to my cart on my next visit.

Sassy Kraimspri’s ‘Pussy Magnet E.P.’ offers us a lively, fueled up slice of attitude driven girl punk! I am not exaggerating when I say it is the best new sound I have heard in ages. All I can do is imagine how energetic their live shows are… and lucky for us the band are scheduled to appear at Twitrfest in Birmingham next month!

My suggestion?

Catch Sassy Kraimspri live. This is music that was made to be heard that way.

"Sassy Kraimspri i Kilden"

Sofie Vatland: 28. Januar, 2012

- Lyngdals Avis

"Demon Pigeon review of Dirty White Lies 2010"

I think this is the first record by a female artist that I have ever actually reviewed, and to be honest, the prospect is daunting. It feels like I’ve been remiss, really, but as under-represented as women are in rock and metal, you can hardly blame me. Anyway, as a sensitive, progressive, left-leaning renaissance man (ie, a pussy), I’m gonna try my hardest not to be misogynistic or patriarchal or sexist in this review, because frankly, I’m better than that, and you all know it.
There’s a bit of everything in Sassy Kraimspri. She has a voice that could raise the dead, among other things. And she knows her way around a chorus. Among other things.
This is a lot harder than it looks, trust me.
Dirty White Lies has got three distinct things going for it that push it way beyond the realm of the ‘merely quite good’ and into the land of ‘genuinely ace’. One is the voice, possessed of a range that veers from snarling pop-punk to yearning balladry without an instant’s pause. Another is the solid layer of baritone guitar that throbs across the entire album, dumping steam shovels full of raw power and spontaneity into your tabs. The third is a set of song-writing chops that make it difficult to credit this as ‘just’ a debut album. It’s strong, confident, and, in places, absolutely fucking massive.
Fundamentally, putting this album on is like playing a game of hopscotch with all of the rock genres. There’s sludgy bits, punky bits, black metal bits, and heart-aching melody bits, and it’s all so well-blended that it’s hard to tell where one influence ends and another begins. And it’s all egged up in a shell of 2kool4skool attitude that appeals to crusty old idiots like me. It reminds me of the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion (and, inevitably, his Cristina Martinez-fronted side-project Boss Hog) in that regard, and I could hardly think of a better band to be compared to.

Better Daze is a minute-and-a-half of thick, heavy guitars chainsawing away at a washy beat, with a chorus that will probably make you go ‘haha what’, purely because you will not remotely have seen it coming. It is genius, and it brings us to …Am I Gonna Feel Like Shit in the Morning, which moves at a fraction of the pace, with a riff I could imagine hearing on a Melvins record. It switches places with an odd-number verse, all quiet and moody; then here comes a sweetly-crooned bridge. And it all makes sense, it all hangs together, even though the component parts have so little in common. Or there’s Take it Slow which actually sounds closer to Morcheeba than The Donnas, and that is unquestionably a very good thing.
Toy Boy, the lead single, is probably my least favourite tune here, actually. Not to say it’s bad, but it’s a pretty straightforward punky rattle from one end to the other of its three minutes, compared to say, All Work and No Play or All for Me, both of which are rootsy stompers that stand out even against this background of quality. All for Me, in particular, has somehow managed to wow me by simply making its gorgeous chorus quieter than the verse. It’s such a simple and subtle dynamic idea that I can’t believe it’s not ubiquitous. But offhand, I cannot think of anything else I’ve heard recently that doesn’t just stamp on every pedal and twist the gain knob till it breaks for the sing-a-long bits.
Older is emblematic of the quieter passages of this record, and it showcases Kraimspri’s way with a melody to absolutely devastating effect. Subtle orchestration here calls to mind the likes of Elliott Smith or perhaps even the chamber pop of a Polyphonic Spree or the like.
I really, really like this album.
8 pats on the head out of 10.

"Cack Blabbath review of Dirty White Lies 2010"

They Say:- Hot and dirty rock and roll lead by axe-weilding, fire-breathing mob-boss mamma Sassy Kraimspri.
A gig veteran at 23 having played none other than: CBGB's (New York, USA), North By North East (Toronto, Canada) and the Quart Festival (Norway- notably sharing a bill with The Who, Turbonegro, the Beastie Boys and Juliette and the Licks) and multiple spots at Oslo's John Dee, one of which was supporting Melissa Auf der Maur.
Sassy is known for her sexy and energetic live show and her band's tight, hard-hitting backing. She recorded her first tracks which became a pink 7" EP in 2001 under the tutelage of indie Norwegian record label Mother Ocean Records, who later helped her forge the producer relationship with former A-Ha and 21 Guns bassist-come-producer Leif Johansen. She released her debut album, "Dirty White Lies" (Produced by Johansen) in February 2008 which is being released in China in May 2010. Songs "Toy Boy", "Noose", "All For Me" and "Plain and Simple" have been heard on radio stations across the world .

We say :- Ok, so I'm a little late to the party with this particular record. Sassy release her first EP in 2001, and this 'Dirty White Lies' album came out at the tail end of 2007. Still better late than never as they say.
I first heard of Sassy via Twitter, that wonderful way to discover new and exciting music. Someone on there suggested that I check her out and after hearing what was on Sassy's MySpace page decided to learn more about this talented Norwegian. Her sound has been described as 'Chick Rock' but don't confuse what is on this album with the "pop punk" crap that that label is usually associated with, and here's why....

Sassy was born in Norway but was raised surrounded by the sounds of the underground punk scene of New York, and these very different influences are there for all to hear in the heavy punk infused riffage of 'Dirty White Lies'. The baritone guitar gives the album an unbelievably good, heavy, sound and there is just a hint of Norwegian black metal thrown into the mix. So it's punk, definitely, but punk with a heavier edge sometimes, and topped with Sassy's amazing down and dirty vocals (This young lady does 'sexy' like you wouldn't believe).

From the moment the album kicks off with the brilliant single 'Toy Boy' this record just oozes a special something. The heavier edge lifts this album above traditional modern Punk rock. From the doom laden riffs of "All Work and No Play" to the softer more gentle stylings of of 'Older' and 'Take it Slow' this is an album that allows Sassy to explore various aspects of her considerable vocal talents. There are even moments where you can almost hear touches of the great 60s Jazz vocalists, listen to the start of 'Noose' and see what I mean :)

The result of this is an album that is really easy to like. The deep guitar sound, the songs, the emotion, the variety and the voice, THAT voice.

So what next then ? Sassy is currently in the studio in the woods of Southern Norway writing and doing pre-production for album number two, with Tricky Dicky Downfall as a co-writer. Tricky Dick is a punk legend from Sydney Australia who met and wooed Ms. Kraimspri at a Christmas party in Sydney in the wee hours in 2004.

The next Sassy Kraimspri release will be produced by the legendary Russ Russell of Napalm Death, The Exploited and The Wildhearts fame. The demo track 'Pussy Magnet' is available here and a magnificent slice of Ramones inspired punk it is. If this is anything to go by the next album is going to be an absolute belter.

Sassy's summer will be filled with a Norwegian summer tour and multiple festival stops, before heading to Australia in late July followed by China in August. We really hope some UK dates will also be lined up.

"Stor norsk musikksatsing i Kina"

Stor norsk musikksatsing i Kina
(October Party Records)

NORWEGIAN WOOD MUSIC FOR CHINA,

Her er

Kina er i dag verdens mest befolkede land, verdens raskest voksende økonomi
og dermed fremtides største marked for pop og rock. Altså vår tids Klondyke
for artister og band.

HISTORIEN:

Kina.

NORWEGIAN WOOD MUSIC FOR CHINA:
Norwegian Wood Music For China vol.

"Dirty White Lies review"

"All work and no play" er som P.J. Harveys "To bring you my love", seigt, mye fuzz, baritone, herlig herlig dobbeltnydelig og vidunderdeilig. De beste låtene, under sterk tvil selvsagt, er gigantene "Am i gonna feel like shit in the morning?" og "Sweet babe".

"Twitrfest 12/02/2012 Live Review:"

Following them were Sassy Kraimspri (http://www.myspace.com/sassykraimspri), a Norwegian act with whom I was completely unfamiliar. They arrived onstage in suitably punky, ramshackle fashion, seemingly about to begin their set without their drummer and suffering some confusion as to how to turn on the bass head (pretty much all of the equipment on stage for all five of the bands was on loan from other bands on the bill). Unfortunately, this rushed opening appears to have left little time for the sound engineer to dial in a mix, as the opening song by the quartet found itself struck with a cluttered sound – rhythm guitar that was all crackly white noise, muddy bass, what have you. Eventually though, both band and sound guy found their groove, and I found myself nodding my head along with Sassy’s old-school, punky efforts – particularly when the band retuned mid-set, and played what I presume to be newer material that sounded like a more angular, spiky take on Melissa Auf De Maur’s solo output. Their on-stage performance was energetic, and while their style isn’t exactly to my particular tastes, I certainly wasn’t bored during their set. - One Metal.com

"Review in Street Voice (UK)"

SASSY KRAIMSPRI – Dirty White Lies: Sassy Kraimspri comes from Norway and is a talented performer and the proof lies in this CD I'm listening to right now. Throwing various genres of music together such as Blues, Punk and Thrash is a brilliant idea as it keeps the album fresh from the moment you turn it on to the moment it ends. There's so many twists and turns that it's hard to label Sassy Kraimspri but I can say one thing that if she was American you'd have heard of this lady by now. This opens up with 'Toy Boy' and it's full steam all the way through tracks such as 'All For Me', 'Plain And Simple', '..Am I Gonna Feel Like Shit In The Morning…' and finishing with a great closer 'Take It Slow'. There's some great stuff coming out of Norway and Sassy Kraimspri is one of them. If you're looking for an album with balls and integrity then give 'Dirty White Lies A Listen'. 8.5/10

Sassy Kraimspri

Chick hard rock/metal Hallo. Oslo, Norway's rock chick is hard and hot. I'm slightly afraid of puke, screaming and silly ESL lyrics. Lunachicks/Babes in Toyland/L7 r popular here. I want to come home!

"Don't Know What Ya Heard About Ol'-E, But He's A Norwegian P-I-M-P"

BadmintonStamps has much love for the hardcore spirit of Ole Bull, Norway's 19th Century violin master. Not only does he have the most punk name this side of Stiv Bators, but growing up he told off his parents, failed out of school, and posed as a law student while he mastered violin. As if being a cool-named, parent-hating, drop-out liar wasn't enough, homie becomes a nationalist revolutionary and starts playing Norwegian folk tunes instead of that concert hall crap, all while raking in the cash. To top it off, Bull moves to eastern Pennsylvania where he starts a commune. And trust me, Pennsylvanian commune chicks are mad easy. Unfortunately, despite promising bands like Jaga Jazzist and Royksopp, Norway hasn't lived up to Ole Bull's raucous history. Until now. Norwegian sensation, style maverick, and BadmintonStamps comrade Sassy Kraimspri kicks ass. Her music rawks hard but remains sexy like a hot Norwegian babe. Listen close and you can hear the ghost of Ole Bull fiddlin' away.

The Kraimspri gang have notched up shows the world over; ranging from their home country Norway to legendary CBGBs in New York City, Canada, Australia, China, Germany and the UK. The music has been compared to Black Sabbath, Boss Hog, Courtney Barnett and L7. The band site their influences as far and wide as 30s blues, 50s rock and roll, 70s punk rock and 90s stoner sludge.

"Fusing together punk, grunge and alt-rock elements, the Stavanger-four-piece are out to captivate the world with their on-point, killer tracks." Big Cheese Magasine UK
