"SaulPaul has Hollywood Buzzing, Gets Offered Deal"

Succeeding as an artist or musician in today’s ever-evolving music industry is no easy task. It can be extremely difficult for artists to connect with those who can take their careers to the next level and let’s face it, we all want to play with the big boys. Tess Taylor and the National Association for Record Industry Professionals (NARIP.com) have bridged this gap. Since 2006, the LAMN Jam Music Contest has provided artists with an opportunity to compete in front of industry titans and seize the chance – and attention – everyone is after.

It’s not even the final round and 2014 LAMN Jam participants have already been approached with more than ten deals (including licensing and publishing) and other exciting opportunities. SaulPaul, an urban artist and LAMN Jam finalist, was offered a music licensing deal and radio coverage, and was recruited by one talent judge who is a music producer. Young Beautiful In A Hurry, a group in the Pop Rock category, collaborated with a competitor, Zach Jones, to create a tune that was placed on SyFy Networks hit show “Defiance.” Jones himself also received a licensing deal even before the preliminary round ended. One participant commented that these successes are a result of NARIP’s emphasis on “community.”

Artist competitors agree that the LAMN Jam Music Contest offers helpful feedback from top industry leaders. “The judges provided great feedback and by showcasing for them, certain individual judges offered me various opportunities,” said SaulPaul. Those involved remarked on the diversity of the panel. “I like that they represented different facets of the industry,” said artist manager, Barbara Leung, who represents Young Beautiful In A Hurry, “from publishing, to management, [to writing].”

Taylor, President of NARIP and LAMN Jam Founder, created this event to bring artists and industry executives together to generate real professional opportunities (most talent judges are NARIP members, from the upper reaches of the industry). Judging by the above testimony, the Jam is doing just that. No matter which artists take the titles of Pop Rock and Urban LAMN Jam winners and the artist development prize package (valued at almost $50K in services and gear) this week, it’s clear that ALL involved have benefited greatly. - Los Angeles Music Network

"SaulPaul Wins LAMN Jam Contest in Los Angeles"

Artists and attendees witnessed live A&R after each performance from talent judges including artist manager / Discmakers West Coast GM Sydney Alston, producer DanielFouché, producer and coach to 21 Grammy award-winners JanLinder-Koda, UndergroundHipHopBlog.com’s Armando Urena, and multi-platinum producer ShakimWilliams. Talent was strong and decisions were tough but SaulPaul, Pawz One, and International Maverick came out on top and advance to the semi-final on Wednesday, August 27 at Skinny’s in LA. "SaulPaul selected as Creative Ambassador for City of Austin"

The City of Austin’s Creative Ambassador program designates local artists who are traveling overseas as representatives for Austin’s cultural and creative community. SaulPaul has earned the nickname “musician with a message,” bringing his inspirational brand of acoustic hip hop to audiences around the world for the past ten years. He is the recipient of the Artist of the Month honor from the Austin Music Foundation and the University of Texas at Austin Young Alumnus of the Year Award and served as a an ambassador for the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau.

In April 2014, Creative Ambassador SaulPaul traveled to Vancouver, Canada to record new music at Vancouver's Liquid Tensions Music Studio and perform with the Infinity Music Trio -- John Littlejohn (Violin), Anthony Cheung (Viola), Alex Cheung (Cello) -- at an educational outreach concert for the St. James Music Academy. Here are his impressions:

As a touring musician, I have had the opportunity to visit many states in the United States. This year has been a remarkable one in that I have had the opportunity to tour internationally. The first of many stops this year was Vancouver, Canada. Upon my arrival to Vancouver, I quickly noticed that it was a beautiful city. The people were very welcoming and hospitable and very eager to learn about the Austin music scene.

After having spent a few days there, I noticed that similar to Austin, they are very supportive of the arts and work at spurring the creative business sector. During my time there, I collaborated with some of the top musicians in the city as well recorded a song at a local Canadian recording studio. (FYI: I am very excited to debut this song, titled Mama in New York City in a few weeks!)

My hosts were very hospitable. They taught me about the culture as well as took me on a tour. Vancouver is a beautiful city with diverse landscapes. The coolest thing about Vancouver to me was seeing people snow skiing, playing water sports and sun bathing all in the same day!

My concert performance experience was very exciting. The crowd was totally into it and everyone loved my music as well as my accent. I was like, “What accent? Y’all don’t talk like this?”

At the June 12, 2014 meeting of Austin City Council Mayor Lee Leffingwell will present SaulPaul with a proclamation for his service as a Creative Ambassador. SaulPaul will also be the featured musical performance at the Council Meeting. The performance and proclamations begin at 5:30 pm at Austin City Hall. - City of Austin

Bio

2015 was a good year for SaulPaul.

In addition to a national summer tour, SaulPaul recently had a string of very successful industry showcases in Los Angeles. These showcases led to SaulPaul being offered a music licensing deal and a distribution deal. He recently accepted both and his next album will be released via Ingrooves Music/Universal Records. It's been a great year in deed.

SaulPaul's unique blend of hip hop and live instrumentation mixed with his stage presence and a live show that can only be described as an experience helped create the current buzz that he is enjoying.

SaulPaul's like to simply say that he is a very talented rapper. Others say he is much more than that. When SaulPaul played the BET Music Matters Showcase, BET's Senior Music Supervisor Kelly G said, "He was a star." When 3rd Coast legend, DJ Micheal 5000 Watts experienced a SaulPaul performance, he said the same thing. What blew SaulPaul's mind was when the legend asked SaulPaul if he could take a photo with him.

Regardless of the current buzz, SaulPaul has kept his head down and keeps making music and keeps touring and keeps growing his fan base.

He started the year performing at 2 separate TEDx events. Then he was named Deli Magazine Artist of the Month in March. Also in March, SaulPaul was named Creative Ambassador for the City of Austin and in April he was representing Austin as he was on tour in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. While there , he recorded his single Mama. The success of that song led to SaulPaul being invited to New York City where he performed the song at the United Nations Foundation Moms+Social Good event. When SaulPaul returned from the East coast where he toured for two weeks, he received a proclamation from the Mayor when the City of Austin deemed June 12th SaulPaul Day. Shortly after that SaulPaul went on a national summer tour. He played 5 major festivals across the country: Summerfest, Musikfest, The Orange County Fair, Sonshine Fest and the Safeway BBQ Battle and Music Festival. He even documented his summer tour and released a series called SaulPaul: TourLife. Check out the Summerfest Episode. It's a great look into what a SaulPaul performance is like and you can see how SaulPaul makes his fans feel.

Now with all the touring behind him for a couple weeks, SaulPaul will finish the recording of his new album. After having shot a music video and recorded a summer jam with Austin Music Awards Hip Hop Artist of the year, Trampia, he is looking to do more co-writes. Next up is Austin's own Courtney Santana.

The lead single from the upcoming project is titled RISE. The song was written in the Live Music Capitol of the World, Austin, TX, but it was recorded in Nashville with the help of Grammy Winning, Platinum Selling Producer Billy Smiley. The song itself features SaulPaul rapping, singing, beat boxing and playing percussion on the guitar. Totally organic, totally from the soul. It serves a great snapshot of where SaulPaul has evolved to as an artist.
