Sinfinis

BandRockEDM

Darkly introspective music that sneaks up on you, grabs tightly, and won't let go.

Biography

Songstress Mary Elizabeth Bell created Sinfinis to make you uncomfortable. Like a mythical siren, she reels you in with haunting vocals and smashes you against the proverbial rocks with thoughtful, often unsettling lyrics. Songs on her debut EP, The Edge of a Knife, broach precarious subjects such as abortion, infidelity, murder, narcissism, nihilism, free will, intrinsic depravity, and remorse. Prepare for an assault on your conscience.

Musical arrangements are alternately aggressive and melodic. Each Sinfinis song is different from the next, often challenging the boundaries of conventional structure and style.

One thing is certain: this is darkly introspective music that sneaks up on you, grabs tightly, and won't let go.

Lyrics

Just Once

Written By: Mary Elizabeth Bell

I feel a chill
when he walks in the room
like the shiver you get
when you wake up
and the dreaming was good
I know I should
just close my eyes
and think about what matters

I can’t shake this
I’m trying to wake myself from this
I can’t shake this
and I sure can’t explain it

but I wish – just once –
he’d look my way
I think – just once –
that’d make my day

my heart is still
as he’s leaving the room
'cos his hand touched mine
when he walked by
and it felt so good
I know I should
forget all about it
and think about what matters

I can’t take this
something’s got to break this spell
I can’t escape it
I don’t want to waste this feeling

I wish – just once –
he’d turn and say
I can’t live without you
please come away with me

I’m just blind enough
to think I’m in control
I’m just warm enough
to believe it’s not cold
I’m just lost enough
to forget my soul

I wish – just once...
and when it's through
I'd go on like it's nothing
I know that's not true
I know that when you've got everything to lose
it might take just once
to see that you do

Puppets

Written By: Mary Elizabeth Bell

is it you?
is it me?
can only go so far
wandering free
let me know
what I need
can’t tell if you're silent
or just whispering

let go let go
if you've got a hold
of my strings
if you don’t
then I'll scream
I don't I don't
I don't really know
if you don't
if that's such a bad thing

show me what I can't see
trying, deciding
which lies to believe
what's the promise you keep?
I'm enjoying the silence
then I hear you scream

let go let go
if you've got a hold
of my strings
if you don’t
then I'll scream
I don't I don't
I don't really know
if you don't
if that's such a bad thing

I smile
I cry
I don't know why
I laugh
I sigh
I breathe
I'll die

let go let go
if you've got a hold
of my strings
if you don’t
then I'll scream
I don't I don't
I don't really know
if you don't
if that's such a bad thing
I'm hanging on
in spite of me
puppets can't actually scream

Consumed

Written By: Mary Elizabeth Bell

I know you know what I'm thinking
I don't care
you wait me out so patiently
but I'm still sinning today

I think it's time to play
you say I need to change
I say I’ll go your way
I hardly know your name
you know my every move
here in the dark I stay
he says that you don't see me
but I know better

I try to forget it
but the blood starts pumping
and I just can't help it
so I do it again
I think I regret it
I know what I'm doing
but I think I regret it
then I do it again
I say I'm repentant
when I beg your forgiveness
but I guess I don't mean it
'cos I do it again
I try to forget it
but the blood starts pumping
and I just can't help it
so I do it again

my tired conscience is barely breathing
it's not quite seared
sometimes I think it's almost finished
you're still here

I try to forget it
but the blood starts pumping
and I just can't help it
so I do it again
I think I regret it
I know what I'm doing
but I think I regret it
then I do it again
I say I'm repentant
when I beg your forgiveness
but I guess I don't mean it
'cos I do it again
