"Sonic Cult EP"

" his [Ben Lorentzen's] voice blends perfectly with the full arrangements and orchestrations of the band. When the full force of Sonic Cult’s sound rises behind him, the results become nearly transcendent. - Roundhill Magazine

"The Cafe Wha? A Worthwhile Destination"

"Their [Sonic Cult's] 45-minute performance was clean and dynamic, with tasteful moments of classic rock mixed with the welcome uniqueness of Hunter’s viola and the refreshing versatility of Lorentzen’s voice" - Mauvais Langue

"N/A"

"...this is a band you might not be able to stop listening to. The production is excellent, nothing is out of place, and that arrangements are just outstanding. In short, these folks have talent." - EVOR

Bio

Finally, after a year in the making, Sonic Cult breaks out of the studio-coma to conquer the world one city at a time. The characters are an unlikely bunch-- and have travelled long through their own musical wilderness: a Malaysian bassist touring the world with south-east asian pop singers; A reformed jazz guitarist from California, abandoning his roots to pursue songwriting and tour with Gene Ween; A classically trained violist, tired of being overlooked in the sea of orchestral players and finding a new love of stomp boxes; a Finnish drummer who pays rent by playing in a karaoke band in NYC, mindlessly hashing through the worst of the worst pop hits; and a lead singer from Norway, who was formerly a staff writer at EMI, with radio hits in Norway.

The likelihood of these 5 meeting in another lifetime is slim to none. Their first meeting was on the Hammerstein Ballroom stage in NYC, at a church gig on a groggy sunday at 7am--and now they've come to write and demo over 50 songs together-- making an album with producer Brian Sperber (Moby, Staind, Julian Casablancas)

After decades of irony, poetically phrased questions, and loads of formulaic electro dance-hits--Sonic Cult is here to turn the page of cultural consciousness, to bring realness and honesty back to the music world--songwriting in the spirit of Foo Fighters, Nick Cave, The Cardigans, and Suede (to name a few). Each song is crafted with love, then delivered in reckless abandon
