"MAD SCIENTISTS: STEREOGOESSTELLAR"

They've got a band member with dishevelled "mad scientist" hair. They're absolute masterminds of their musical laboratory. And they pack more syllables into a song than most, which gives their music a frenetic energy that'll leave you buzzing.

StereoGoesStellar released their debut, self-titled CD two months ago, but they already sound as though they have been concocting musical potions for years. They meld the crystalline melodies of Jeremy Coulter's gentle, almost classical, piano-playing with the driving, aggressive indie-pop sound of the rest of the band.

The five band members begin their alchemy with Coulter's piano hook and lyrics. "Jeremy comes with the guts and the internal organs and the heart of a song and then we come with the skin and the hair and the eyes. It's the mad scientist thing," explains drummer Erik Stenlund.

Coulter relies on writing music to sort out the wrinkles of his everyday life. "I'm a timid person. I don't like confrontation," he says. "I use the piano and lyrics and poetry to work things out myself instead of bothering other people. In music I can explore that realm safely."

When the band plays at Toronto's North by Northeast festival next week, they'll be bringing along copies of their new CD. The artwork on that CD deserves a mention, if only because the StereoGoesStellar fivesome had to wrangle a cow to create the image on the back of the packaging.

"I thought it would be really docile," says Coulter. But it wasn't.

Finally, bassist Keith Howlett managed to put his summer farming experience to work, and they calmed the cow down enough to get a good shot.

Coulter says, "Half of Woodslee showed up to see us city boys trying to wrangle a cow." - Windsor Star

"StereoGoesStellar Set To Release Debut Full-Length"

"Built around the majestic piano and soaring vocals of singer Jeremy Coulter without being exclusive of the remaining four members, they have built a sound that is fresh and new while being altogether familiar. While their faster poppier songs are no doubt the highlights of their live shows (you can feel how good their shows probably are just listening to them), it’s on the slower tracks that StereoGoesStellar really shows what it can offer beyond what most of their local peers can do." — Jamie Greer, wammonline.com - WAMM ONLINE : 02.20.09

Bio

"...Windsor has been striking gold more often than not with its musical ambassadors as they take their wares on the road and the airwaves. With 2009 only a few months old, I’d like to offer a name for you to remember as a candidate for our Next One. StereoGoesStellar." — Jamie Greer, wammonline.com

StereoGoesStellar are a 5 piece indie ‘Power-Piano Pop’ band from Windsor, Ontario that have been steadily building a loyal following wherever they play...they are gigging regularly and most recently could be found opening for Canadian Idol Theo Tams on his national ‘Taking It All Back’ Tour 2010. They were selected to play at the 2010 NXNE for the second consecutive year after which Moe Berg (The Pursuit of Happiness frontman) became a hard-core fan and has been working with them on developing their live show as well as creating an episode of his ‘Master Tracks’ TV series around them that will air on AUXTV. Berg is also to produce their sophomore album which begins recording in September once the boys finish their current touring commitments.

StereoGoesStellar are a band that win fans wherever they go, their sell-out show at Humber during frosh week resulted in the band spending over an hour signing CD’s and selling merchandise to a long line-up of converts. These guys have an amazing work ethic, are hungry for success yet realistic about what it will take. Since ‘releasing’ their debut self-titled album in April 2009 they have sold around 2000 physical and digital units by themselves and it’s clear that they have just scratched the surface. Available through CD Baby as well as on iTunes it sells steadily each week track by track. Amazingly the band has developed a small but loyal following in Australia!

StereoGoesStellar’s song “88 Keys” won Best Pop Song at the Barrie New Music Fest Awards 2009 and a video for the song, which will be the bands first single is currently in production. The SGS cover of the iconic ‘Hit Me With Your Best Shot’, featured as a bonus track on the album and is a popular addition to their live set since the perennial hit is known by every generation and the audience love to join in. In fact when the song’s writer Eddie Schwartz heard a demo of the song, he declared it the best cover since Pat Benatar's and took the files to his studio in Nashville to produce and do additional engineering on the track himself.

Recently selected to showcase at the COCA conference, StereoGoesStellar are building a solid foundation of credible believers in a young band that cuts through and are becoming great ambassadors for Canaidan pop/rock music.

In 2010 StereoGoesStellar was featured at the S.C.E.N.E Music Festival, International Pop Overthrow Festival, KOI Festival in Kitchener/Waterloo, The Shores of Erie Wine Festival and selected other dates across Canada with Theo Tams.

2011 will yield greatest summer yet for StereoGoesStellar as they are set to release their brand new EP and take the country by storm!
