"SGW Band Press Reviews"

Benjamin New music editor, dulyconsider.com:
"...one of the most legitimate female blues voices in the history of the genre!"

Atlanta's Creative Loafing:
"Sue Wilkinson has a gorgeous voice, no doubt, like some shimmering symphony of nature."

Ginger Massey, CitySearch.com:
"Through bursts of "rockin' R&B" from her acoustic piano and soul-stimulating vocals, Wilkinson not only dissects every dirty emotion, but she wallows around in them until the fear of that emotion is erased. Of course, just when tears begin to well up in the corners of your eyes, Wilkinson throws out a song so fun and playful that you're compelled to leave the seat and groove to the beat."

99X Sound Menu-Creative Loafing:
"Filled with an abundance of soul, local band leader Sue Wilkinson can get you stomping your feet while you wallow in self-pity. The title track to her album 'See About Me' captures Wilkinson in her element; evoking Janis Joplin, creating her rare multi-cultural, cross-generational stew." -Mossman

London's Time Out:
"Hugely enjoyable pounding, stomping, riffing, rough-hewn, piano-driven R&B from the soulful Wilkinson, ripping it up all the way from Atlanta, Georgia."

Go Girls Music:
"She hits rapid-fire intros, takes improvised solos, plays like mad, and it's a pleasure, an inspiration, and a 'how does she do that?' to listen to."

Davy MacFarlane UK's Blues Maters:
"Ana Popovic... could be fighting for space in a crowded field, given the amount of blues women around: Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, and the excellent Sue G. Wilkinson."

Bio

Cypress South the musical duo had a dream! The premise was this: What if they took their lush, powerful, vocal ambient music reminiscent of Pink Floyd, Sade, and Hearts of Space and paired it with a mesmerizing, one of a kind imagery created to sync in perfect real time with their music. Then carry that unique experience to venues seeking a thought provoking, positive, sophisticated performance.. With a little research and stroke of luck they heard about the new full dome projectors in planetariums around the world and knew immediately that THIS was the perfect place to bring their live shows!! Their contact with Minolta lead to integrating Cypress South's technology with the new full dome projector technology to create an exciting new way to experience music! And that is the way dreams morph into reality!!

The Music- Cypress South is an immersive multimedia experience involving ambient, vocal driven music, combined with live digital imagery. While Cypress South's music has an ambient quality; it is not purely meditative in content. Being vocal driven, there are actual songs with verses, choruses, and engaging lyrics to stimulate the listener. The music is performed by the duo of Sue Wilkinson and Michael Cady. However, the instrumentation, and the use of a loop station, conspire to generate much more music than would ever normally be associated with a duo Sue Wilkinson uses her keyboard to create drum tracks, recurring motifs, and sonic beds, over which she will then play other parts, including solos. Even more striking are her vocals. She sings with an incredibly clear and powerful voice, and with the help of the looper, will create live and on the spot, one or more vocal tracks; which she then will harmonize along with in real time.

Michael Cady's main instrument is a 7-string bass which Michael helped design and custom. He records a bass line and then play melodies or solos when the created loop is replayed. He may bang on the strings to create a drum loop. Michael also used an Ebow, or electronic bow to create a bowed string instrument effect, and will layer looped tracks to create a string section Michael sits on a Cajone, a box drum, and uses it to create percussion loops as well. The music that transpires is all original and unique to Cypress South with a few choice covers that work well in a planetarium setting. A couple of their favorites are a rousing version of 2001: A Space Odessey as well as Don McLean's Starry Starry Night. You might also hear CS's version of Bob Marley's Stir It Up.

The Imagery- Michael O'Bannon uses various video clips; which are ethereal, color shifting, and geometrical in nature, and brings them in at opportune moments in concert with the music. While the clips are playing, he manipulates them live to create a mesmerizing visual experience, that is unique to each performance! Michael will tailor the raw clips to the specs of any planetarium to create the optimal visual impact inside the dome!

Plans For Marketing - CS has extensive email lists and FaceBook contacts whice we use to promote every show. We can provide professional promo material that each planetarium can use to market to their contact list, and other usual marketing avenues. We can create a presence in publications that the facility suggests as good sources of exposure, and we are open to any suggestions has for successful marketing of the show.
agreement in which we receive a 60-40 split of the proceeds, with a guaranteed $600 minimum compensation.

Further Considerations: We like to have the performance professionally videoed and subsequently edited. Once edited, the final products could be shared. One product would be a promo piece; which could be posted on the planetariums website as an exciting example of the cutting edge shows which are capable of being produced in the planetarium. The other would be a full length DVD; which could be sold in your gift shop or website.
ADDED BONUS: CLINICS Sue: presents a vocal clinic, piano clinic, harmony singing clinic (any age group) . Michael presents a bass clinic as well as a "music for small kids clinic" using tuba, bass, and yo yo's and a Bass clinic for all levels!!
