Sultry, soulful & seductive. A unique blend of jazz, pop, & blues. "Depending on what mood I'm in that day is what comes out. When I explore life through music, I don't find myself going in cirlces. Music is one way I choose to escape and adapt and I don't mind getting lost in it."Share
Sultry, Soulful, Seductive, & Smooth, just a few words to introduce the music industry’s newest vocal sensation Taileen Alvarez: Her time is now.
“I like to think of myself as spunky, outspoken, fun-loving, spontaneous, and resilient.”
In a sea of fabricated talent, Taileen Alvarez is truly a breath of fresh air. She adds a certain level of sophistication and class to anything she sings. A timeless voice, elegant lyrics and a passion for life is what makes Taileen the artist of our future.
Born in Secaucus New Jersey on May 7, 1987 to parents of Cuban descent, Taileen was blessed to have grown up in an atmosphere filled with music of all genres. Her journey to musical prominence began at the ripe old age of four. Through a special program run by the local Board of Education, Tai attended Westminster Choir College’s vocal camp. She went on to study under Roseanne Vitro, a prominent jazz vocal coach at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and subsequently performed at the Victoria theatre; an experience that solidified her confidence. Taileen’s bluesy/rock & jazzy style has often earned her comparisons to musical great, Janis Joplin. In fact:
“Some of the greats that have made their way into my psyche are Janis Joplin's raspy voice and mellow tone, Lauren Hill's emotional interpretations, Jim Morrison's free spiritedness, Pink Floyd's metaphysical lyrics, and Guns and Roses' timelessness of their classics.”
Taileen has developed a wide range of musical styles, absorbing some from each. A well rounded talent both as a recording artist, dancer, and stage actor; a true professional with a little bit of this and a whole lot of that. Taileen has recorded on commercially released records and held prominent roles in community theatre as well as the lead in her school play. Tai’s songwriting and lyrical skills extend well beyond her years: A prolific writer both in song and verse who will one day be one of the music industry’s best. A triple threat no doubt and a natural performer, Taileen is comfortable on any stage…in any setting.
Taileen is also one of the featured artists on the latest release from Fuzion Records called “Lose Control”. She co-wrote and performed the song entitled “Playing Games With My Mind” which is an energetic soulful house jam. Taileen is also currently writing for an up and coming smooth jazz CD soon to be released by produced and co-owner of Fuzion Records, George Mena.
Most recently, Taileen was interviewed on WKCR Jazz radio in NY which played three of her original compositions.
