The Short Term

Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Upbeat Alt-Rock. The Short Term brings the new to the nostalgic with their indie-influenced, driving sound. In production of their first EP with Chad Blinman (The Get Up Kids, Saves the Day, Senses Fail).

In July of 2013, singer Rick Greenwood and drummer Andy Cousineau began collaborating on a new project. They were introduced to Mike Kazmer, a seasoned bass player from Arizona who had just relocated to Boston, and after an energetic and collaborative rehearsal, The Short Term was formed. They began writing bright, crisp melodies over melodic bass lines and intricate, expressive drum parts. Together the trio built the foundation for The Short Term’s upbeat and aggressive, yet sentimental, feel.

The band wanted to bring a throwback impression to their sound and the Boston music scene. After working tirelessly writing material, they recorded a two-track demo and played their first show in September 2014. Creating a set list and playing in great clubs all over the Boston area has been rewarding. However, the response from listeners and their growing fan base has been the biggest motivation.

"I just remember getting off stage after those first few shows and having people come up to me and say 'Dude! You guys remind me so much of those bands I listened to back in high school,'" says frontman and songwriter Rick Greenwood.

"It was really cool hearing people respond to the music the way we had intended it. We wanted people to remember the feeling of getting their license and driving around in their car listening to those mix CDs with Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, and bands like that. I think so far we've done a decent job making sure that feeling and energy translates well in our live show."
