The Hedgehog's Dilemma

Formed in late 2009 as an acoustic act, The Hedgehog’s Dilemma was an outlet for Anthony Touarti’s unique songwriting. Touarti teamed up with vocalist-guitarist Brian Monsman, drummer Luke Church and bassist Paul Breedlove to bring his songs to life. Touarti’s baritone was complimented by Monsman’s tenor to deliver tight harmonies that danced over top of acoustic-driven americana grooves.

The band recorded a 4-song EP Danger! in early 2010 featuring “Freaks”, “Molly”, “7/9” and “Travelin’ Sue”. The Hedgehog’s Dilemma began playing regularly around Cleveland’s east side and developing a reputation for high-energy, crisp live performances.

A lineup change in early 2011 gave the band a sonic overhaul by pairing Touarti and Church with three new members: sister Samantha Touarti on vocals, Christopher Schwartz on bass, and Doug Wyatt on lap steel and lead guitar. The new lineup built on the existing catalog of material and also added a lot of fresh and re-worked material that showcased a more polished, developed sound.

After playing shows at some of Cleveland’s premier rock & roll clubs including the Beachland, the Grog Shop, and Wilbert’s, The Hedgehog’s Dilemma was ready to put together a full-length album, which would eventually be titled The Shallows.

Since releasing The Shallows in July 2012, the band has been playing numerous shows and expanding to new venues in and around Cleveland. "Whiskey River", a track from The Shallows has been featured on Sweet Truth Records' Cleveland Compilation album released in fall 2012.
