"Wake up with fresh eyes in the morning. Maybe all this will go away."-Fresh Eyes

With their 2005 debut soundtrack release, "Saint Christopher's Garden", The Silver Brothers, demonstrated a variety of talents. John Tenting, wrote the mystery thriller screenplay and along with his brother, Rick, wrote, performed and produced the entire soundtrack together. An unconventional, but, unique introduction to listeners.

"I'm Depending On You" received Honorable Mention in the 2007 Singer Songwriter Awards.

On Saint Christopher's Garden, Singer/Songwriter John Tenting wanted to produce a diary per se; each song written for a specific scene, moment or character in the story. This led to a diverse collection of material ranging from hard melodic rock, " Narimba's Plan", to instrumental pieces, "The Music Box Song" and "The Balled Of Saint Christopher's Garden".

John reflected on the original idea for the screenplay.

"Most people thought it was a religious theme, when in fact, it's not about religion at all. It's about something everyone on this earth needs...hope and faith."

Rick Tenting grew up in Saint Louis, Missouri and by the time he was 16, he was playing gigs in Gaslight Square. After moving to Los Angeles at 18, he's had the opportunity to play with likes of Don Henly and Dwight Twilley to mention a couple. His lead guitar work has been compared to greats like Clapton and Frampton.

Says Rick, "Those are two of my heroes, so , it always sends chills down my spine when someone says that".

You can hear the reason why on The Silver Brothers latest release, "I'm In Control". John's lyrics are a piece of advice to himself.

John said, "When nothing is going right and it just seems to keep getting worse, sometimes you have to give yourself a pep talk. That's what this song is about. It's an artificial resucitation, empowering yourself.". The tune is an infectious, soulful, rock, blues stroll with a groove that pulls you in.

The feel of their music, timber of their voices, their writing abilities, their instrumental prowess, their heart, soul and charisma can be felt in every note.

"It's important to be honest AND entertaining. I want the fans to relate and to love the song even more than I do."

The guitar driven energy of "Fresh Eyes" has summer release written all over it. The lyrics have already been awarded the coveted, International Poetry Society Editor's Choice Award. The lyrics have been published in the winter of 2007 in a coffee table book.

John says, "It's a surprise happy ending. I got chills when I finished these lyrics, and that doesn't happen all the time".

Rick and John's influences range from, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, U2, Elvis, B.B.King, to Peter Frampton, Elton John, and Frank Sinatra Present influences include, John Mayer, Puddle Of Mud, Foo Fighters, and in reality, too many others too mention.

The Silver Brother's recent successful shows at The House Of Blues Sunset Strip and Club 705. The rousing response to the old and new material is evidence why their web pages and links are blowing up.

John said, "I love it when the crowd sees two guys on acoustic guitars and think o.k. this is going to be mellow, and before the first chorus of "I'm In Control", they know this is something different, that they are about to be entertained.

Today Rick and John are THE SILVER BROTHERS
Their 2005 release, "Saint Christopher's Garden" was well recieved and awarded

Lyrics

Fresh Eyes

Written By: John Tenting

A lady sits in dark silence
Dial tone; one hand holds the phone
Building up her nerve
To make the call
Wondering how she got here at all

The last thing she wanted
Was to end up alone
As she slowly hangs up the phone
Maybe she'll call in the morning
As it turns out
She needs more time alone

Wake up with fresh eyes
In the morning
Maybe all this will go away
When she wakes up with fresh eyes In the morning
She knows it won't be that way

The sun glares through the window
Like a strobe
Makes it impossible to
Keep her eyes closed
She lets out a sigh and starts to cry
When the first thing she sees
Is the phone

Wake up with fresh eyes
In the morning
Maybe all this will go away
When she wakes up with fresh eyes
In the morning
She knows it won't be that way

The first ring breaks the silence
By the second
She knows just who it is
It seems his night
Was just as restless
And her feelings are the same as his

Wake up with fresh eyes
In the morning
Maybe all this will go away
Wake up with fresh eyes
In the morning
She knows it won't be that way

I'M IN CONTROL

Written By: John Tenting

Well, there's one thing that's been buggin' me baby
Like a little black fly, buzzin' 'round my head
You think I'm,
One bad trip then another,
In a broken down car
Without knowing
What's ahead
But, my wheels keep turnin'
In the night black as crow
Deep down in my soul
I know,
I'm in control

Well, there may have been
a couple of setbacks
A barricade
Bump in the road
I tried to turn the hands of time back
On a ticking bomb
About to blow

But, my wheels keep turnin'
In the night, black as crow
Deep down in my soul
I know,
I'm on a roll
I'm in control

Well, you know that thing
That's buggin' me baby
Well, that little black fly
Has gone and shoed away
No more drivin' me crazy
In the middle of the night
In the middle of the day

My wheels keep turnin'
In the night black as crow
Deep down in my soul
I know
I'm on a roll
I'm in control
I'm in conrol
I'm in conrol

Hold Me

Written By: John Tenting

I write these letters
That I never send
But, it feels better
Than not writing them

They sit on the desktop
Postage and all
Same message within

I want you to hold me
Like you used to hold me
You never hold me that way
You used to console me
Fill up the holes in me
That was yesterday

That was before
You shut the door
Your now opening
You put me to shame
I took all the blame
I've brought all I can bring

I want you to hold me
Like you used to hold me
You never hold me that way
You used to console me
Fill up the holes in me
That was yesterday

Only a day away
Feels so long
Tomorrow's the same way
I'll keep holding on

I want you to hold me
Like you used to hold me
You never hold me that way
You used to console me
Fill up the holes in me
That was yesterday

When's Our Time Gonna Come

Written By: Rick and John Tenting

WHEN'S OUR TIME GONNA' COME
Music: Rick and John Tenting
Lyrics: John Tenting

A hard rains' a poundin' on my window pane
The last time I saw you babe,
Was in the pourin' rain
Tomorrow's supposed to be
A bright sun-shiny day
And I'm waitin' here
Yeah, I'm prayin' dear
Prayin' for rain

Woke up this morning, the weatherman was wrong
A new storm is forming
And it's comin' on strong
I count every single raindrop
All the time in between
Reminding me of your grey cloud eyes
The ones I can't see

When's our time gonna' come
When's our time gonna' come
When the dark clouds block the sun
I'll be waiting here
Year after year
Until that time comes

Lightning strikes in the distance
Thunder starts to roar
I walk past my window
And open the door
It won't be much longer
Just a few seconds more
One thousand one,
One thousand two,
One thousand three,
One thousand four

When's our time gonna' come
When's our time gonna' come
When the dark clouds block the sun
I'll be waiting here
Year after year
Until that time comes

Better Man (Every Soldier's Song)

Written By: John Tenting

Sittin' in this hole I dug tonight
Lookin' out into
The middle eastern sky
Shells are droppin' to my left
Gunfire to my right
Straight ahead
I can't see ten feet in my sights

Make a better man of me
A better man of me
Be all that I can be
All that crap I saw on T.V.
Is now reality for me

Oh Oh Oh
Oh Oh Oh

I'm still a soldier
They can't take that away from me
From boot camp to the grave
That's what I'll always be
Shells are droppin' to my left
Gunfire to my right
Straight ahead
I can't see ten feet in the night

Make a better man of me
A better man of me
Be all that I can be
All that crap I saw on T.V.
Is now reality for me

Oh Oh Oh
Oh Oh Oh
Oh Oh Oh
Oh Oh Oh

One Blind Eye

Written By: John Tenting

We were headed for mansions
High on a mountain point
Wound up in this joint
It wasn't our first choice
Not even in the plan
But, here we stand

Acting out a fairy tale
We both knew was a ruse
One blind eye
One blind eye
One blind eye...
to the truth

There was no lack of effort
Lord knows, we gave our all
Then we hit the wall
No dream can be promised
I promised you a dream
That was bigger...
Than you and me

Acting out a fairy tale
We both knew was a ruse
One blind eye
One blind eye
One blind eye...
to the truth
