Bio

Timothy Sean Tyler, the second youngest out of five kids, was born in Brisbane in the spring of 1978. From around the age of 4 or 5 he used to block the TV viewing in the family home with his vacuum cleaner microphone and singing efforts. Timmy was the type of kid all the old ladies loved and were quick to give a cuddle. Timmy continued his passion for music throughout school, studying first the violin and very quickly moving onto the guitar. Tim wrote his first song called ‘Netty’ at age 12, prompted by the first girl to break his heart. After graduating high school in 1995 Tim joined his first band, Demontia, and continued his study of Music and Songwriting with a Cert IV in Performance Arts majoring in Music. Demontia went on to come 4th out of 52 local Brisbane bands during the grand final of ‘Battle of the Bands’ held at the old Normanby back in 1996, but broke up not very long after. It was between Demontia and his continued study that he wrote ‘Limitless Blue’, his ode to the environment. Tim eventually scored a job at the famed Guitar Shop in Brisbane’s Paddington district, it was there he met Rohan Staples and joined much-loved Brisbane funk band, Glockenspiel. While Glockenspiel found regular JJJ play list success they eventually disbanded and not long after Tim joined the band Preference as lead guitarist. Throughout the years Tim had by that stage written a catalog of around 50 of his own original songs. The day after Tim’s best friend and band member left the country in late 2006, effectively breaking up Preference, Tim’s much beloved mother passed away. The song ‘Mum’s Song (Peg)’ is Tim's ode to his much loved and missed mother Peg.
