Biography

Tina Marie grew up in North Carolina and has been around music her entire life. Her dad was a guitar-playing singer and got Tina singing almost before she could talk. Although more of a guitar player now, her first instrument was piano. She also plays a little harmonica, mandolin, accordion and percussion. “I always loved to sing, and loved picking out harmonies. All through school I was always in any and every choir, chorus or vocal ensemble I could get into“, says Tina. She played with various bands in Richmond all through the 90’s; The Attics, Bart Chucker Band, Mad Marjorie and Whistler’s Mother. In the late 90’s, looking for an opportunity to do more of her original music, she moved to NYC, formed a band and performed in various clubs around NYC and Brooklyn.
After moving back to Richmond in 2005, Tina Marie formed a band, which ultimately also included the current drummer and bass player for Vinyl Tease. “We played together around Richmond for almost 4 years as Sister Sweet, until my long time vocal partner decided to move on to a new project. But the guys and I wanted to play on…and so we are, as Tina Marie & Vinyl Tease”, says Tina. They also play together in other musical projects, such as King Solomon’s Marbles – where she sings and play percussion; The Lost Satellites, singing and playing keyboards, accordion, harmonica and various other instruments to add texture to the sound.

Lyrics

Come to Me

Written By: Tina Marie Haney

I blame myself alone
going going gone
over the edge right or wrong
resistance fading
no one can save me

Desire filled the night
wrong but feels so right
a failure of will not of might
i know this will hurt me
but won't beg for mercy

I hopelessly love you
i helplessly drown
love turns to pain
and desire becomes chains
of weakness
they're pulling me down

Promises forsaken
a yearning to be taken
a bed of my own making
my heart racing faster
i flirt with disaster

Eyes made dark with questions
a lonely heart's confession
betrayed by my obsession
my heart can't remember
how to surrender

I hopelessly love you
I helplessly pray
Tears of grief bathe my cheeks
Guilty sighs can't relieve
The craving for feeling this way
feeling this way

Come to me you whisper
close your eyes and fall
come to me you whisper
let this dream be
all there is........

Touch the Sun

Written By: Tina Marie Haney

She waits in quiet expectation
for answers that she knows will
never come
in soulful meditation
she reflects upon the nothing
she's become
reaching but in vain
to touch the sun

she sees time in the distance
and knows that it has long since
passed her by
all those precious hours
and precious days
wasted
and she
reasons that she can't afford
to cry
so she pours another glass
and drys her eyes

ghosts in the kitchen
azaleas bloom in pink
faded plastic flowers
and empty glass waits
by the sink
she pours it full
to ease the pain
cracks the window
smells the rain
not really dirty
and not really clean
to her it just
smells like rain
