"Tripmynd Wows Haverhill Rocks Judges!!"

The heavy metal band Tripmynd took first place in the recent Haverhill Rocks! Battle of the Bands at Winnekenni Castle, walking away with $1,000 in cash and the opportunity to produce a music video donated by RiversEdge Production on 14 Stevens St.

Second-place winner was alternative rockers Have At It.

The battle began in May, when 30 bands appeared on Haverhill Community Television. Online voting narrowed the field to seven finalists that competed Aug. 18 with the historic castle as their backdrop.

More than 2,000 people attended the event, which was graced with sunny skies and a cool breeze.

"Tripmynd's lead singer, Joe Bocelli, took us on a musical journey," said Ron Carpenito of Keller Williams Realty, weekend DJ and one of four judges. "He was complemented by a band that played like a well-oiled machine. They sounded like they've been playing together for years. It's only a matter of time before they're in the big league."

Other Tripmynd members are Marc Pugliese on guitar, Andy Antczak on bass and Chuck Harnden on drums. If you missed them at Haverhill Rocks!, you can see the band on Sept. 7 at Mark's Showplace, Bedford,NH. - Eagle Tribune, Haverhill MA

Bio

It’s not very often that a local band transcends genres effortlessly. Often times a band seems to sound like a mini offspring of a band you'll hear on the radio. Tripmynd has managed to cross melodic and metal in a way quite different from their musical predecessors. One moment you may hear them cranking out a massive metal riff, and the next they could be rocking an anti-ballad. The end result is something you’ll have to hear to believe. Tripmynd was formed in early 2007 with the desire to create a high energy sound and get away from the "repetitive" music often heard in the local Boston scene. The band started with old friends Andy Antczak & Marc Pugliese reuniting after their former "Instill" project, years earlier. Upon plugging in & playing for the first time in years, they knew they found something different. After numerous drum auditions the two finally found a permanent musician, Nick Alenskis. Nick’s jazzy fast paced style and metronome-like beats made him an easy choice. The final piece of the puzzle was placed when vocalist Joe Boccelli, of the local hard rock heavyweight Visional, auditioned and was gladly accepted into the fold. With the lineup solidified, the writing process sped up, and within no time the first dozen songs for Tripmynd’s freshman release were completed. The band continues to turn heads when playing venues & leaves an impression in people’s minds. Whether it is the beautiful melodies of the anti-ballad “Sunless” or the searing riffs of “Insurmountable”, Tripmynd is starting to make their mark on the local music scene. The bands first full length CD is due out late fall/early winter.
