"Ultraswade - One of the best Original Rock bands we've ever had here! They are blowin it up right now!" - Coda Bar

"Barksdale Airmen 'rock out' at Stripes Lounge"

Barksdale held a free night of entertainment at the Stripes Club Bar Lounge March 13 with a concert consisting of two bands performing and door prizes for St. Patrick’s Day weekend. Afflicted opened for Ultraswade as they both played for more than 100 Airmen, while thanking them for the support Airmen have given them.
Ultraswade has been together for more than five years with this being their second performance at the Stripes Lounge. The members of the band received engraved dog tags during their first performance at Barksdale and wore them during this past performance.
It took about a month to coordinate with the Stripes Lounge and the bands with the proper releases to make the concert happen. One of the many obstacles 2d Force Support Squadron marketing had to overcome was advertising to get the word out. The release contracts were timely.
“It is a good experience to give back to the Airmen.” Said Stephen Foster, band member of Ultraswade. “Performing for the Airmen brings excitement to both us and them.”
Pricilla D’Amico, 2d Force Support Squadron marketing graphic designer, had direct contacts with both bands and asked them to perform on base for the Airmen.
“Ultraswade and Afflicted have always been supportive of the men and women of Barksdale,” said Ms. D’Amico. “Barksdale Airmen support the bands by attending the shows and the bands are thanking them with a free concert.”
The Airmen who attended the concert received a ticket for door prizes. Army Air Force Exchange Services provided three prizes including two beverages and an iPod. The prizes were drawn after Afflicted and before Ultraswade began to play.
“It wasn’t music that I normally listen to,” said Senior Airmen Michael Boutte, 2d Security Forces Squadron law enforcement. “But after listening to it for a few minutes, I got into it.”
Chad Morgan, a band member for Ultraswade, was prior enlisted in the Marine Corps and felt playing for the Airmen will show them they support what they do for them.
“Performing at Barksdale is a big deal for me,” said Brandon Gonyea band member of Ultraswade. “I have a lot of friends deployed a half a world away and I respect them deeply.”
“Rewind” is a big hit played by Ultraswade according to many local radio stations. “Last Stop” and “Right Side” are only a few songs Airmen heard during the concert. Barksdale was the first to listen to the songs from their new compact disc coming out attentively in three months.
Afflicted will be playing at the Riverside Warehouse in downtown Shreveport April 25. Ultraswade is in the process of becoming part of Octoberfest next year. If any Airmen are interested in becoming a member of the Stripes Lounge contact 2d FSS marketing at 456-4115.

Bio

Ultraswade is a rock band formed in Shreveport, LA in 2003. Within that time Ultraswade has persistently garnered a huge local and regional following through word of their incredible live performances. Ultraswade blends a wide variety of musical styles, and catchy vocal harmonies that make their music appeal to a wide range of listeners.

Over the years Ultraswade has released several demos which have gained support locally and regionally. But it wasn’t until Ultraswade released their self-recorded, self-titled EP in June of 2010 that Ultraswade started attracting a much larger audience. Co-Produced and mixed by Adam Hamilton, formerly of L.A. Guns, Ultraswade labored long and hard in the studio to release an album that was worthy of their local following, and that would elevate them to the next level in their music career. Adam Hamilton states that “It is rare in this day and age when I get to work with a band that doesn’t need a lot of pro tools and auto tuning. These guys sat down and just gave really great performances.”

Ultraswade is currently touring in support of their new EP, and are hard at work writing new material and preparing to record their next album. Ultraswade continues to support their local music scene, and have dedicated their time in helping numerous local charities. Ultraswade’s recent involvement with Music for Madison grew their local and regional following on an even broader scale; when they helped to raise money for Madison Johnson, a cancer-stricken child. The benefit was a great success in raising money, and Ultraswade was very proud to be a part of it. Ultraswade has also played numerous shows for their local air force base in support of our troops. Always involved with their local community, and ready to perform whenever necessary for a good cause, Ultraswade is relentless in their pursuit of musical notoriety.

Whether it be performing live, or recording in the studio. Ultraswade’s four members always pour their heart and soul into every aspect of their music. “We write about everyday stuff, the lives that we live, and the experiences that we’ve had as individuals and as a band.” states Brandon Gonyea (vocals), “These are our stories, and it comes out in our music.” Ultraswade will continue to tell their story until the masses have heard; and as producer Adam Hamilton says, “I can’t wait to see what they do next.”
