Bio

Union Specific is an, indie rock/ folk country, band out of Austin,TX led by singer and songwriter Tyler Wallace. The sound blends the broken vocals and acoustic guitars of folk, and roots, with the atmospheric and melodious synths of indie rock and other modern genres.

Since forming in 2008, Union Specific has toured extensively throughout. the American Midwest, and Southeast. Most notable performances include shows with Mark Mulcahy (of Polaris), The Whiskey Shivers, Joe Ely, Jake Shimabakuro, and Junior Brown. Union Specific shares the stage with many Americana artists but is also recognized as a rock and roll outfit performing alongside bands such as The Ghost Wolves, and Ian Moore. 

In July 2014, Union Specific headlined The Nebraska Folk and Roots Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska sharing the stage with Wild Child and Austin Lucas. (See the performance here. youtu.be/gXgHp8jd28Ecrowd shot at 3:32) 

The band has been featured on the highly regarded music website, Daytrotter. Union Specific's Daytrotter session was released in March 2014. 

During SXSW, 2014, Union Specific was awarded a free day in the studio by Converse (as in the shoes) as part of its Rubbertracks Sessions. Union Specific preformed as a SXSW official artist in 2012. 

Union Specific has performed at the legendary Codfish Hollow in Maquoketa, Iowa which hosts shows for the likes of Norah Jones, John C. Reilly, and Counting Crows.

In April 2013 the band released their first LP, Diesel Engines and Kerosene Visions featuring live analog performances to tape, layered with pedal steel and electric guitar. Diesel Engines was #16 on the national Roots Music Review chart

In 2015, the band's sophomore record, Howlin Room was released on the Lincoln NE based label, Sower Records as an acoustic departure from the electric sound prevalent on "Diesel Engines." It was listed at #18 of the best Texas records of 2015 by New Slang. The record also features drums by Jonathan Konya (The Ghost Wolves) and pedal steel by Bob Hoffnar (Ryan Adams: "Jacksonville City Nights") 

The band's 3rd LP First Burn, Then Change is due in the fall of 2018.
