Bio

Big Nasty is a friendship of two music lovers that compliment each other the way only friends can do. Rob and Will met the fall of 1997 in middle school when Will was walking around the lunch room asking if anyone knew a guitarist that wanted to form a band. A friend of his pointed out this kid who plays bass. That kid end up being Rob. The two of them immediately clicked.

That year the two started playing music together in Rob's mothers basement. Many years we're spent practicing, writing, forming technical chops and smoking a lot of herbal goodness. The two played they're first show at a local coffee house the winter of 1998 at the age of 14. It was like fuel on the fire urging both of them to learn more about there ambition.

During High School the duo attended Fort Hayes Vocational Music Program in 2000. While attending Fort Hayes the two learned music theory, history, recording, business, audio recording, live perfomance and composition. Rob and Will stuck out like highly bruised tomato's among the class not only for there musical talents but the fact they we're potheads and the instructors payed special attention to this fact. One of there influences who was an instructor at the time "Jim Manieri" dubbed them "The Shit heads" due to the fact of always being late for class and stoned out of there minds.

After High School the duo played in two other projects. One of them being a early ratification of "OBUS" with Chris Minor (Rob's Brother) and Mark Sims (Former guitarist for the Tough & Lovely) called "It's a Setup". The other being a Hip Hop combo with the early forming skills of "MC Lev Don" (MC for The Bootleggers)

Shortly after these projects Will wanted to travel and venture to the Florida and then the California. He ended up returning to take care of his father who became ill when he moved away. Upon his return Will, Rob & Chris regrouped to form "OBUS" in 2004. After two years of hard touring and a record contract with Interscope Records OBUS fell apart. This was due to disagreements with member shifts and a shifty. With Rob and Will both crushed by a label dream gone sour they decided to do what came natural to them. Play there muzak.

In the winter of 2006 Will and Rob filled the openig spot for a "originally booked" OBUS show opening for Medeski, Martin & Wood at the Newport music hall. The two of them were nervous due to the fact they haven't played there material in years and don't know how it will go over. The first show came and with the short time they had to brush up a set Big Nasty performed.

The audience was silent with awe until the end of the 20 minute performance after the last note was played a man shouted "WTF JUST HAPPENED HERE!!??" followed by a big applause. As they started to tear down from the stage Yells of "ENCORE!" ensued, this was the calling of a move that should have taken place years ago. This was the hidden gem dangling right under there noses....

Since then Big Nasty has mad very huge progress for a band with only two years under there belt. A fan loving fan base that grows with ever performance and bar hop, Two sold out albums and a great friendship that won't stop.

Big Nasty has sold out of there dubut EP "BIG NASTY" & the full length LP "Eclectic Mood Music for the Schizophrenic Mind" and played an aray of festivals during the summer of 2008. Big Nasty plans to record another five song ep and full length lp in January 2009, followed by an Ohio/Indiana tour to celebrate the release of the two albums in May 2009.
