"Budam"

- www.longueurdondes.com

"BUDAM – STORIES OF DEVILS, ANGELS, LOVERS AND MURDERERS"

- www.musique.sfr.fr

"Lapin It Up"

He’s mesmeric, theatrically blending the Threepenny Opera with Billy Holliday. Nick Cave and Tom Waits fans will need to make room for him. - MOJO

"Angles and Devils"

Búi Dam has in the role of Budam a freedom and space to research the most extreme emotions of the human being. And he can sing just as freely about love, sex and murder.
The music of Budam has its roots in old American folk music such as blues, country and New Orleans jazz, gipsy music from Balkan and in the stomp genre. The inspiration of Nick Cave and especially Tom Waits is clear. Even though the style might seem unfamiliar, you can’t escape the fact that Budam is very talented at making simple and very catchy melodies. It is also very refreshing for the listener to hear music for a while, that isn’t dominated by the electric guitar.

"Budam - Spot 07"

His voice was deep and seductive all the way through the concert and it fitted very well with the staging of his stories and the backing music. Budam performed his stories as small plays, where he became a character in the different songs…The title of his album: “Stories of Devils, Angels, Murderers and Lovers” lives up to the themes he touches upon in his lyrics; important subjects such as love, hate and religion etc.

In the last song ”Dadadadie” Budam managed to get the audience to sing along in ”Come let us die” just like a lalala-course. Even though the lyrics are sad and about a man wishing to die, the moment was very uplifting in a rather sarcastic manner. His ability to flirt with the audience and the very specific circus-polka-seaman’s style resulted in a standing applause and an extra song. Let’s hope, that Budam soon will be playing in Denmark again, he and his music deserve nothing less.

Bio

Budam is a singer, songwriter, theatre composer and an actor. His debut album Stories of Devils, Angels, Lovers and Murderers is a true testament to this.
Inspired by artists such as Nick Cave and Ennio Morricone, Budam is a mixture of different genres that can be best described as Theatrical Indi Rock. Budam represents the perfect marriage of theatrical brilliance and musical versatility.
With a deep and seductive voice, Budam's performance is forceful and untamed. His singing goes from animalistic growls to sensual sighs against the background of angelic harmonies and murderous rhythms. On stage, Budam offers a complete show, performing something like Jim Morrison doing Tom Waits in a Weimar Cabaret.
