The variety of musical artists was essential to the type of entertainment platform for this year’s festival.
“We’re excited about the diversity of entertainment scheduled for this year’s Wing Dang Doodle,” Allyce Lott, executive director of the Forest Area Chamber of Commerce said, of the festival which is a joint production of the Chamber and the City of Forest.
This year’s WDD will bring home a local favorite who has honed his soul-rock flair musical skills throughout his career.
The stage at Gaddis Park was the first stage Chad Wesley ever played on in 1999 for Relay for Life. He performed the following year’s Broiler Festival and again in 2001 for his first solo debut on the stage. Wesley also performed at the first-ever WDD in 2004.
He said he is extremely excited to return to the stage where he first performed, set to take the stage at 3:40 p.m.
“I am a product of the Forest community and I am delighted to perform for my family, friends and classmates back in Forest and show them what they all helped produce,” Wesley said.
The 2004 Forest High School graduate said he was influenced by the musical backgrounds he grew up around, particularly those near Johnson town near his childhood home in Lake.
Wesley moved to Jackson and hit the music scene after graduating from FHS and played for various big name bands across the southern region. This year, he decided to focus solely on producing his first-ever album, with his first single, “Simply,” releasing on the digital market this week. Wesley has teamed up with multi-grammy award winning producer Kent Bruce to record Wesley’s debut album.
Chad Wesley Band from Jackson is fronted by singer, songwriter and guitarist Wesley. The band is composed of musicians who play a wide range of music and have deep roots in southern black gospel music, including: Wesley, guitar, vocals and piano; Steve Smith, formerly of Morton, drums and percussion; Anthony Daniels of Eupora, bass; newly added to the band, Robert Rigsby of Pearl, guitar; and Forest native VaNario Youngblood, manager.

Mississippi Natives, Chad Wesley Band, fronted by Soul-Rock Styled Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist Chad Wesley, is a band composed of passionate skilled musicians that play a wide range of music. With members of the band having deep roots in Southern Black Gospel, there is a soul, vibe, and tasteful groove factor(almost spiritual)that is missing in modern music. They definitely deliver the driving force of CWB. This allows Chad Wesley to be free to roam the vast depths of his soul and distribute the emotions via vocals & guitar. The band has been touring the Southeastern Region of the United States for the last 3 years playing to sold out venues for music fans of all walks of life. Their sound is so distinct due to the exceptional musicianship of the band.In October of 2012, CWB released its first EP intitled 'The Liberation E.P.' that included the successful single release of the song 'Simply'. The E.P. also included 3 other tracks that were all(including 'Simply') produced by Chad Wesley and Mixed & Mastered by Grammy winning engineer Kent Bruce of Malaco Records in Jackson, Mississippi.
2013 started off with a bang as the band embarked upon an 8 state 22 city tour that lasted 6 weeks. 'The Cathead Vodka Tour' was a huge success and catapulted the band into a higher echelon of elite regional recording/touring acts in the U.S. As the rest of the year progressed, the band made a huge addition that changed the face of the group forever. They added dynamic vocalist & personality Nikki "Vagabond" Reed to the group as a co-vocalist to Chad. The show evolved heavily as their already high energy show went through the roof.
After completing a hugely successful tour and run of shows throughout 2013, CWB started off 2014 by signing and independent record deal with Jackson, MS based label NOW! Entertainment Group(www.nowentertainmentinc.com). While still performing consistently all over the region, they have begun recording their major debut record set to be released before the end of the year.
