Bio

Christina's new CD "A Flower Truly Blue" (2008) was recorded on Music Row in Nashville, TN and features the talents of pianist/arranger Pat Coil (www.patcoil.com), bassist Craig Nelson, drummer Bob Mater, and trombonist Oscar Utterstrom. The CD also features Jeff Coffin on sax and Joe Gross on trumpet. Among the tracks on the CD are songs by Leonard Cohen and the Beatles. Green Daniel produced and co-wrote brand new material for this latest project, which is sure to be a welcome and fresh addition to the jazz world.

Vocalist Christina Watson's impressive range appeals to music lovers from all backgrounds. She can swing on a jazz standard, interpret a ballad with mature sensitivity, and then belt out the blues and funk with attitude and a unique edge. Fans have compared her sound to that of Carmen McRae, Bessie Smith and Diana Krall. Classically trained, she also possesses a powerful soprano voice, which is showcased by her role in the Nashville based vocal jazz quartet, 3rd Coast Vocals.

After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music in 2001, Watson moved from Boston to Nashville. Since her arrival in Music City, Watson has performed at local jazz hot spots such as F Scott's, Café 123 and Ellendale's as well as at private and corporate events and concerts in the US, Sweden, France, Belgium, China and South Korea. Watson has also made appearances on Nashville Public Radio (90.3 FM) and at local jazz festivals in Watertown, Franklin and Germantown.

Her musical talents have also earned her spots on jingles and Nashville songwriters' demos as well as invitations to sit in with bands like New Orleans style funk brass band, halfbrass (www.halfbrass.com), and the Tower of Power tribute band, Bump City (www.myspace.com/toptribute).

Watson went into a Boston area studio in early 2004 to record her debut CD, "All About Love," which is now available online through CD Baby (www.cdbaby.com/christinawatson). Her original composition, Half Moon, has received praise from critics and listeners around the globe. Reviews of "All About Love" and music samples are available through Watson's website, www.christinawatson.com.

Not only a performer, Watson is also currently teaching vocal classes at the Nashville Jazz Workshop and coaches private vocal students from her home studio. In addition to her music education at Berklee, she also holds a BA in French from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, and an MA in French Literature from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Watson is a member of the International Association of Jazz Education (IAJE).
