Summary

The California Music Industry Summit (CMIS) is "The Ultimate Platform for all Genres of Music!” CMIS will be held on June 13-15, 2013 @ Laney College located in Oakland, CA. CMIS is an opportunity for professional development and education on the newest trends in the today’s music industry for emerging artists and music industry professionals. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience three days of artists showcases and two activity filled days of music business panels, workshops, demo reviews, vocal critique, one-on-one mentoring all lead by top experts in the music industry, and exhibitors.

There are 30 slots reserved for Sonicbids artists. All artists/ bands that submit to showcase submissions get free badges ($199 value) to attend and participate in the conference whether selected to showcase or not. Your band will also be considered as alternates. Badges are good for all access to see keynote speakers, music business panels, demo listening sessions, vocal critique, workshops, mentoring sessions, exhibits and artists performances. Registration also includes the conference bag, CMIS CD and directory. There is no compensation for showcasing and artists/ bands must pay their own expenses.

The California Music Industry Summit is where creative people connect and cultivate professional relationships that can last a lifetime.

Past keynote speakers include: Michael Winger (Executive Director of The Recording Academy), Jean Quan (Mayor of Oakland), Betty Wright (Grammy Award Winning R&B Singer), Tess Taylor (President of NARIP), Kelly G (BET Music Supervisor), Leslie Ann Jones (GRAMMY Award winner, Director of Music Recording and Scoring at Skywalker Sound A LucasFilm Company), and more.

Past performers include: Brother Han, Cheating Daylight, Midori & Ezra Boy, Maybe Tuesday, Urban Punk comprised of hip-hop veteran, H2O, and American Idol finalist La Toya London, Boys Without Toys, OBI Soul Star, Fallen Sputnik (DJ), Z'Amico, Baby Jaymes, Ann - Marita, Side FX, HYIM, Zulayka, Whitney Myer Band, Siphu Zee, and many more. All showcase performances are open to the public and a good number are free.

Important Note: CMIS will be evaluating bands as their submissions come in. Please make sure that your EPK is complete as it is part of the review process. If your EPK is not complete CMIS will not be able to review your submission. Managers, label representatives, crew, etc will have to purchase a ticket in order to gain entry into the California Music Industry Summit.
