The heart and soul felt vocals of Denise Rene' Squier are out in front of this Austin, Texas based band "Crosswind". Since their first release, "CAUTION: CROSSWIND in January of 2003, this group has grown in popularity and progressed in their song-writing skills along the way. Sean Morrogh rocks guitar and vocals, Magdalena Acuna on tasty keyboards and vocals, Bryan Smith pulling bass duties, with Jay Henderson pounding the drums and vocals, round out the line up.
Some of the awards they've collected along the way include, Texas Stars and Guitars Fest - Award of "Outstanding Band Performance" (2007) , #1 Song "Take It for Granted" at Unsigned Rock Zone in March of 2007. To see a longer list of recognitions for Crosswind got to http://www.sonicbids.com/Crosswind.The song "Take It for Granted" with it's catchy rock beat and driving momentum is a good representation of why not to take this act for granted. In "Save Me" Rene' Squier's vocals are reminiscent of Stevie Nicks. A dreamy rhythm guitar punctuates the seventies feel especially during the chorus. "You Heard Me Cry" has a punchy drive that flows well into the chorus.
Crosswind definitely has seventies and eighties influences throughout as is demonstrated again in "Real Good Start". My favorite song on their epk is "Why". Rene' Squier's vocals meld well with the tonal quality on the guitars. The arrangement is progressive as it leads to a well delivered chorus. "Why" is a definite Christian rock radio friendly song.

It’s not often that I feel compelled to write a review, but this group just has that effect on you. After listening to this project, I just FELT better. From the first guitar lick, accented by Denise Squier’s gorgeous velvet voice, to the last note, I was hooked. And I hate to say “you know they sound just like…”, but really, if Olivia Newton-John fronted Jefferson Starship…well, you get the idea. The entire band just BELONGS together – you can hear it in every song…I can only imagine that they truly enjoy each other’s company, resulting in this incredible project. Do yourself a favor and pick up this CD...you’ll be the newest Crosswind fan. I know I am!

Crosswind, featuring 2008 Texas Music Awards "Female Vocalist of the Year" finalist, Denise Squier has been touted as “one of the hottest bands in Texas” (Nette Radio, Dallas, TX). Crosswind has been appearing at major music festivals all over the Lone Star State, such as SXSW and the GoGirls Fest, headlining concerts, and winning "Battle of the Bands" competitions.
Their 5th CD "Cry" is getting airplay as well as having music that will be featured in the upcoming movie "Garage Dwellers". (Be looking for updates on specific songs as they come available!)
Their 4th CD “The Core” is still receiving radio play on several radio stations all over the United States and is stirring up quite a "buzz". One of the CD’s tracks “Save Me” has been included in a movie soundtrack which released in October 2007. "The Core", released in December 2006, is a getting back to the core of Crosswind's style-rock with a blues influence, a meshing of Rush and Heart with Bonnie Raitt.
Crosswind's third CD "Unified" (2005) has had nationwide airplay, led by the release of the song "One Heart", which is still being played on radio today. It has become a favorite even by churchgoers and has been introduced in churches as a praise and worship song to be sung by the church congregation. "One Heart" has become Crosswind's breakout hit and landed the band a distribution deal with Amnesty Records.
In live performance, the strong, soulful vocals of Squier have been compared to Ann Wilson of Heart (Diane Sheets, Vocal Consulting Group, Nashville, TN) and Stevie Nicks (John Tenting, World Voice News, Los Angeles, CA). The performances are packed with emotion that can raise the hair on your arms! Descriptions of live shows generally include phrases like "The place rocked!" and "They are the emotion-charged real thing", and one of the most compelling, throbbing, and exciting shows in memory".
Crosswind believes that every song should be from the heart. The music is positive, giving hope to the listener, yet it is honest and speaks truth. That is the reason Crosswind has been accepted in both worlds-mainstream and Christian.
Crosswind travels with a sound system, which would be available when necessary.
