"In Tune with Drew Jacobs"

Did you read about the boy who dreamed of being in a musical comedy and became one? Well, except for the name and a few other changes, you could talk about Drew Jacobs. The story’s the same one. (My apologies to Neil Diamond.) - hudson-rambler.blogspot.com

"NECMA Songwriters Workshop"

Printed 4/27/07
Drew Jacobs is about to put out an album he wanted to call "Easy Listening for the Hard of Hearing" He's one of the featured singer/songwriters who, along with Adams, will perform at the Songwriters Showcase Sunday. Jacobs had performed years ago in several local groups including an oldies band called Surprise Package but had confined his songwriting to solitary sessions creating music he never expected anyone else to hear. Then, he began attending Northeast CMA's twice-a-month open jams at Yours nightclub on Barrett St. in Schenectady. Soon, he found himself
singing his songs in front of an appreciative audience of like-minded
amateurs. "The more I played out, the more I got a charge out of
somebody coming up to me saying, 'Hey, that was really funny,' or, 'That
was a good song,' or, 'I enjoyed that one,' or whatever they may say.
So, it just started festering itself for lack of better term." Jacobs' "festering" led to three of his songs being featured on the nationally syndicated Dr. Demento radio program: "Santa Claus Is Coming to Rock You," (a play on Queen's "We Will Rock You" and "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), "Rudolph's on Steroids" and "Where Are All The Songs about Chanukah."
- Don Wilcock-The Troy Record

"Comments from Steve Goodman Biographer"

"'Fortune Cookie' has clever twists throughout. I could see Goodman performing this."

"'Half a Song' is just wonderful, very Goodman-like, with a perfect and inevitable punch line."

"'Garage Sale' is a perfect boomer lament/celebration."

"Love the uke, tuba and muted trumpet on 'Help Me, I'm Drowning.' This song has Nilsson all over it. He must be a huge influence."

"I hear John Prine in 'Grampa's Ponytail.' Any song that tells a vivid story is a keeper, far as I'm concerned."
- Clay Eels

"Local CD Music Roundup"

"Latham singer-songwriter Drew Jacobs calls himself an "acoustic humorist." And with such songs as "You Never Heard Me Play My Guitar," "My Bad," and "Fortune Cookie," his new CD "Easy Listening For The Hard Of Hearing" certainly delivers some chuckles. - Greg Haymes, Albany Times Union-12/6/07

""I'm Allergic To My Job" CD Review"

"The Production on 'Allergic' is first rate, with the the varying song styles one might expect on a record populated by titles like "Wives for Dummies," There's A Problem in Your Pants," and "Rudolph's On Steroids." And as noted, Jacobs has a knack for honing in on the funny aspects of everyday life." - Michael Eck- Albany Times Union

"A terrific performance to like minded baby-boomers........" - The Colonie Spotlight
