DRIVE LIKE JULY's hyperactive-lunatic frontman, Silas Copathic, began his musical career as a mild-mannered trombonist in the Duxbury High School marching band. But as he came out of his shell and became more psy-chopathic (get it?) over the years, he started writing minor-key-melody-driven punk-metal tunes, perfected his scream, and put a band together. Drive Like July Based out of Quincy, MA, DLJ has spent the last two years dishing out their spin on rock to Greater Boston Area and beyond. Starting with just Greg, Matt and Ryan, DLJ spent this first year and a half finding the perfect bassist and drummer to complete the band. Thus, Jeff and Derek were found. Since then Matt has stepped aside to focus on family and school and work behind the scenes of DLJ. Anthony was then picked up as Matt’s replacement and he has fallen into place seamlessly. Together these five gents combine the speed and raw power of punk with the melodic guitarmonies of late 80s metal together with catchy, story-like lyrics and come up with what some are calling "addictive", "amazingly energetic" and downright "awesome!"
DLJ consists of Greg- Lead Guitar and Screaming, Ryan - He Sings, Anthony- Rhythm Guitar and Backup Vocals, Jeff- Bass and Backup Vocals, and Derek- on Destructive Drums. Keep an eye out for DLJ's debut CD to come out in mid 2007 and look for them this winter as they work their way through the Northeast providing the rock to the masses!
Band Member Bios:
Greg - The soft spoken one of the group. He may not say a lot but what he doesn't speak in words he expresses through his guitar and the unique songs he writes. Give him a few beers and he'll be the funniest kid you have ever met.
Ryan - As the band would say Ryan is the "fearless leader" constantly promoting and writing and improving his voice. He may act like the father figure sometimes but when given the right opprtunity he'll goof off with the best of them. He can jump four feet high standing still.
Jeff - This is the guy who makes us all smile. Besides being an amazing bass player he can really warm up a stage and is never afraid to break the ice and get things moving. Watch for his crazy bass riffs!
Anthony - The newbie. This kid can shred. He will school you with his sandwhich making ability and then skateboard over your face! Look for Anthony's keen fashion sense and amazing guitar playing at the next show!!
Derek- Derek came into DLJ's lives like a cherry bomb going off in your stomach! Destined for greatness, you will see Derek deliver some of the sickest drum fills and beats that you will wet yourself!
