Dub8

There is a new movement in town and its founder is Dub 8. The self-coined REGGAE~SOL~SKA movement is an untapped musical genre on the verge of something great. Dub 8 seamlessly blends the technical dynamics of reggae beats with infectious Latin inspired ska riffs & hooks to round out a perfectly unique sound. Formed in 2005 in Pico Rivera, CA, Dub 8 has delivered countless high-energy performances throughout Southern California, Arizona and Washington at numerous watering holes, eateries, private parties, benefit concerts and community events. The band is currently wrapping up work on the greatly anticipated release of their first full-length CD. Each performance is the equivalent of a blood, sweat and tears effort from each of the musicians. Dub 8 band members are Ralph Abundes~Lead Vocal & Lead Guitar, Eric Michalak~Bass & Vocals, Frank Gonzales~Drums, Abraham Ortiz~Trombone, John P. Alvarado~Trombone and John Montes De Oca~Tenor Saxophone.

This band is poised and at the ready to capitalize on the wave of playing at the top of their game. Dub 8 was a part of this year's Soulstyce, a 2-day music event in Pico Rivera featuring Redman. Famous venues such as House of Blues @ Sunset and Anaheim, The Slidebar and The Federal Bar have hosted the band and watched their bars fill to the brim with Dub 8 fans, family and friends. Dub 8 enjoyed the honor of being hand-selected as the lead-off act at the Lummis Day Festival in Los Angeles. Dub 8 was the only band from the event's musical lineup to be featured on both FOX11 and KMEX morning news programs on its tv media day. The band has performed their Spanish song, Luna, live on KPFK's Pocho Hour. Earlier this summer, Dub 8 was the band of choice to perform on a day of historical significance for the Orange Co. Roller Girls at the first indoor banked-track roller derby competition to be held in more than 20 years at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena.

Dub 8 impressively lays down highly original songs and will cover popular tracks from the likes of Madness, Mana, Bob Marley, Steel Pulse, War, Sublime and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs. All of the music is filled with melodic layers of the REGGAE~SOL~SKA sound designed to keep you dancing until last call and beyond. Passionate and bilingual vocals coexist with razor sharp timing and something that can only be described as harmonic gymnastics from the 3-man horn line. There are blazing drum crashes, crowd-pleasing audience-participating chorus hooks with a refreshingly happy vibe that when braided together by Dub 8 you just Release Yourself from the day's worries.
