If you watch American Idol religiously like I do, then you definitely know who David Archuleta is. If you don't watch the show, then you will become familiar with him soon. The second runner up, of last years Idol contestants, should have a long singing career ahead of him. The 18 year old singer from Miami played for a sold out crowd at the House of Blues on Sunday. The crowd was full of very friendly moms with a slew of very excited children in tow.
The concert started with Leslie Roy as the opening act. She did a very long set, that the children in the audience enjoyed, but bored the adults. Her pop sound was offset by her raspy voice that made her songs more edgy. Some negative comments that I heard from the adults in the crowd were "She smokes too much, and she's so young."
An excited David Archuleta came on stage with a gigantic grin on his face. He started with the velvety "Touch My Hand." His second song "Too Many Barriers" made the crowd scream every time he belted out a note. David seemed genuinely grateful to have the opportunity to perform for audiences every night. I lost track of how many times he said "This is awesome!" In his state of over-excitement he had one his band members take a picture of him with the screaming audience in the background.
He sang his current single "A Little Too Not Over You," everyone sang along, including the adults. He then sat on a stool next to his guitar player and sang "Somebody Out There" his voice sounding more mature beyond his years. His falsetto voice rang beautifully throughout the theatre. His next song was making fun of how clumsy and dorky he can be, but as he said "It works for me." After he sang the song "Waiting For Yesterday" he laughed a bashful laugh that even melted the adult's hearts.
He sang a medley of songs from the '90s to now, acting like the '90s was so long ago. The medley included "Gotta Be" by Desiree, "Love Song" by Sara Barallis, and "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz. He put a little bit of his own spin on each number. The next song he sang was co- written by Kara Diguardio, the new judge on American Idol. It was performed with his piano player playing violin and singing the melodies. It was a very pretty song.
He gave the audience a special treat by singing an unreleased song called "Zero Gravity." It was very different from his other songs, more of an electronic/rock feel. The fun in the house became magnified as he jumped around the stage wildly. He slowed things down a bit with "You Can" a very romantic ballad. Lisa Dalletezzee from Monoeville, Pa, flew in with her best girlfriend just to see the concert. She said that was "one of her favorite songs on his album." His pitch perfect whole notes were beautiful.
He sang his first single "Crush" and everyone sang along. He briefly left the stage, but came back for his encore. He sat at the piano and sang his two favorite songs. The first was "A Thousand Miles" originally by Vanessa Carlton. David sang it like the song was meant for him. He ended with a tearful version of "Angels" originally by Robbie Williams. David put on an exciting, fun-filled show and judging by his enthusiastically warm performance has a bright tomorrow ahead of him. - Story and photos by Jeannette VanKanegan
This past weekend, I was fortunate enough to catch David Archuleta's concert in Albuquerque, NM. Most of my readers are aware by now that I'm a huge fan of this guy. I supported him throughout American Idol & I still do. Well, after this weekend, David's album, on a scale of 1 to 10, represents his talent at about an 8. Even his brilliant performances like "Imagine" & "Angels" on Idol, as far as I'm concerned, are about a 9. David Archuleta's incredible talent cannot be fully absorbed until you see him live. There is no doubt in my mind that he is one of the greatest talents of our generation.
Although the venue was a little O_o , it all worked out for the best because we could see David quite well. I thought the setlist was excellent. He performed just enough material from his album, some of the bonus tracks (which is a rare perk), & even a selection of his favorite songs. One of the highlights, though, was definitely the new song "Zero Gravity." He really got into that one--& for good reason! Hopefully this isn't too much of a spoiler for anyone, but I also enjoyed the encore, which had David take the stage alone at his keyboard. It was the perfect way to top off the perfect evening.
Even in front of a sold-out crowd, David was just the sweet, grateful person I expected &/or hoped he would be. He even sang Selena again at the audience's request! David put on a great show that, at the heart of it, had precisely what I am always looking for: the music. Not that they'll do his flawless showing any justice, but I'll share some of his performances with you below:

Though I have only seen “American Idol” winner David Cook in concert on last summer’s “Idol” finalists tour, after watching runner-up David Archuleta burn through a 90-minute set of pop songs Sunday night at the House of Blues, I’m inclined to say that America may have gotten it wrong last season when the majority voted for the rocker Cook over the crooner Archuleta.
There is a pure, pleasant pop quality to Archuleta’s tenor voice and just enough raspy soul to add shape, color and weight to the tone.

And he sure knows how to work a crowd. Fans at the all-ages, general-admission show began lining up around 10 a.m. Sunday for the coveted spaces close to the stage. The “Idol” runner-up made it worth their while when he took the stage in jeans, a black shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a gray square tie to perform “Touch My Hand.” It was a calculated and obvious choice to begin the show, and Archuleta made darn sure he touched just about every hand thrust towards him from the first couple of rows of people.
He immediately followed the opener with “Barriers,” a song that felt too over-produced on the album but is a pretty decent pop song when performed live, stripped of all of its post-production studio shenanigans. The same also held true for “Don’t Let Go,” which Archuleta performed later in the evening. It almost makes you wish he’d release a live album.
“To Be With You,” written by new “Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi, was another highlight of the evening; it’s a sweet and simple little ballad about hope and longing that Archuleta sang with heartfelt sincerity.
Archuleta also showed he has a future as a dance recording artist if he so chooses; the techno-flavored “Zero Gravity” (a song which he co-wrote with guitarist Mike Krompass that didn’t make it onto the album) had Archuleta, his band and the crowd jumping around; in the right hands a club remix of that song could earn him a slightly older audience.
“Idol” judges are forever going on about song choice, and it’s advice that Archuleta appears to have taken to heart. While much of the music on his debut album could easily be dismissed as forgettable pop music, there’s no denying his talent when he has the right material. Archuleta had the strongest vocal showing of the night during a medley of his favorite songs (the ones he could get the licenses for, anyway; U2’s “One,” Des’ree’s “You Gotta Be,” Sara Bareilles’ “Love Song” and Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours”) and his two encore numbers (Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles” and Robbie Williams’ “Angels”).
Opening for Archuleta was Irish rocker Lesley Roy. She’s got a raspy, rocker-chick voice that reminds you of Nancy Wilson of Heart with a little of Archuleta’s fellow former Idol Amanda Overmyer. It was nonetheless an odd pairing; Many of Roy’s songs forgo the pop hooks favored by Archuleta for pure rock. Still, you have to give her props for closing her 30-minute set with “Psycho Bitch,” one of the best tracks on her current record, even if she self-censored the title for the youngsters in the crowd. - Chicago Sun-Times

Elias Logothetis began playing the drum set at the early age of 6. His first formal instructor was Steven Turner who was located in the suburbs of Boston. At age 8 he moved from Boston, and continued his private studies in New York City at the world re-noun Drummers Collective. He studied with several different teachers there, including weekly in-depth private instruction with Fred Klatz.
In January 2003 he further intensified his training by participating in the Drummers Collective full time certificate program. There he was taught by Micheal Lauren, Frank Katz, Memo Accevedo, Vince Cherico, Guy Licatta, Kim Plainfeild, and Fernando Hernandez. Upon completion of the program Elias played with local artists at several clubs in the New York City.
In March of 2003 MTV contacted Elias to play drums for the MTV house band. He performed live with visiting MTV artists, regularly performed on the show ‘Say What? Karaoke!’, and also made guest appearances on MTV’s ‘Total Request Live (TRL)’.
In the Fall of 2003 Elias enrolled in Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He continued his private instruction at in Boston with Kim Plainfield, Gary Chaffee and Dave DiCenso. He graduated Berklee with a degree in Professional Music (primarily focusing on tour promotion and management) in May of 2007.
In December of ’08 Elias began playing with LL Cool J’s Platinum Harvest Recording Artists 13 in NYC. In late January of ‘09 he began playing drums for David Archuleta (Jive). He played with David until June. In August he joined Jason Castro’s (Atlantic) band and played with him until March of 2010. In September of ‘09 Elias joined Ryan Star’s (Atlantic) band. He is currently still the drummer for Ryan Star. Also, in March of ’10 Elias was hired by David Foster to play with his artist Charice Pempengco (Warner Brothers). Elias is currently still her drummer as well.
Some other artists Elias has performed/shared a stage with include Play on Brother, George Clinton, Da Whit and the Fam, Two and a Half White Guys, and various visiting MTV artists.
