"Toronto Sun CD Review"

"Singer-songwriter Ember Swift blends the funky and the folky on The Dirty Pulse. Swift's melifluous voice is a wonderful instrument, changing from slightly husky to a fluting soprano; she accompanies herself on guitar -- jazzy funk, acoustic strumming or whatever else the song demands." - The Toronto Sun

"Metro CD Review"

"(it's) the more mature, ear-pleasing mix of reggae, smart pop and complex-free jazz flourishes that ultimately will garner appreciation for Swift's eco-minded sound offs." - Metro Magazine, Toronto

"Tangible Sounds CD Review"

"From the hip shaking beats of reggae to smooth jazz melodies, Canada's own Ember Swift seems to be able to sing them all. Her latest album proves that and is a solid album that will probably gain her enough of a buzz to get her career rolling in a bigger form." - www.tangiblesounds.com

"Now Magazine CD Review"

"If aggressive socio-political commentary normally kills your buzz, Swift counters it on The Dirty Pulse with some pretty solid music. Funky, populsive beats, odd tempo changes, whimsical yet stinging guitar parts and elastic bass lines couresty of long-time cohort Lyndell Montgomery go a long way toward making Swift's ninth album an interesting spin. - Now Magazine, Toronto

"The Mercury Rhode Island Article"

"The Dirty Pulse is Swift's ninth release and with it she oses provacative questions about the unseemy underbelly of an industry and a culture where affluence has reached epic proportions. Somehow, though, she manages to imbue all this with her sometimes quirky, often funky and entirely - and oddly - wholesome affect. One can imagine her as easily crooning in some smoky downtown bar (remember those?) as performing barefoot on a crowded, white sand beach in Australia... What is noticeable in her music, especially on this most recent album, is a decided lack of musical boundaries... Just think of her as your very cook, vegan, Canadian, activist best girlfriend..."

Bio

Ember Swift is a Canadian original artist, musician, songwriter and performer. Based in Beijing since 2008, Ember has toured extensively throughout North America, Australia, Europe and Asia. While a global pandemic may be able to (temporarily) slow down the rate of international travel, Ember continues to produce and release music through her own independent label, Few’ll Ignite Sound Inc., a company based simultaneously in Toronto (Canada) and Beijing (China). Since 1996, she has released 13 albums of her own eclectic blend of original pop music that consistently pays tribute to jazz, folk and rock among other styles.

The latest album “Mid-March Meltdown” (2021) is Ember Swift’s most melodically memorable collection yet. It’s comprised of 13 songs filled with hooks and grooves that’ll have you humming the choruses long after the songs have ended. With her band of top-caliber musicians assembled in Beijing, the high energy, muscular musicianship and sheer diversity of her material make it the kind of album you listen to until the final track. Produced, in part, by fellow Canadians Gabriel Beaudoin and Tim Abraham, this latest collection will be formally released on March 27th, 2021. For more information, visit: www.emberswift.com
