"Modern Day Bard"

All in all, Lawrence J. Clark seems to be a reputable jack-of-all-trades; a modern day bard, able to sing songs, tell tales, and weave within his stories an in-depth knowledge which he freely passes on to those who will listen. - The Collegian (Houston Baptist University student newspaper)

"Creative and Interesting"

Creative and interesting, this man will draw you into any song he sings. And he tells many stories.

- Kathleen Hudson, Executive Director, Texas Heritage Music Society and author of Telling Stories, Wri

"Entertaining, Humorous, Sensitive"

In a day where the pop sound or the repetitive beat gets all the attention, Clark has remained true to the lyric. His songs are entertaining, humorous, sensitive, and just plain pretty. - Jinelle Boyd, MyTexasMusic.com

"Captivates His Audiences"

Clark captivates his audiences by using his literary and musical talent to deliver a message and help people learn. - Margaret Rice, Director of Student Development and Regional Outreach, University of Houston-Victoria

"When I get to college I'm going to sing like him . . ."

He sings so good. I like his voice he should be in a concert and when I get to college I'm going to sing like him and know everything there is to know. - 4th Grader, Port Lavaca, TX

"Our students really enjoyed the performance . . ."

The songs were entertaining and on level for our at-risk high school students. The poetry was very meaningful. Our students really enjoyed the performance. Thanks for the CD's--several students have checked them out! - Debi Goode, Genesis Alternative High School, Bastrop, TX

"Unique ability to connect to students . . ."

Students had an immediate and positive response to his introduction of song and guitar playing. I hold high regard for Clark's unique ability to connect to students and would recommend him to any group that wishes to have a powerful, effective presentation. - Ersilia Garcia, Education Awareness Coordinator, University of Houston-Victoria

"This is a great CD! . . . . makes you feel better!"

This is a great CD! There are songs on here that, if you're feeling down, they really pick you up and make you feel better! Lawrence is not only a good singer, but a great songwriter. If you really listen to the lyrics, you will get a lot more out of the songs. I highly recommend "Beautiful" to anyone who appreciates not only good instrumentals, but great lyrics to go along with it!
- Robby Barnes, MyTexasMusic.com fan review

"You were wonderful . . . we hope you will come back . . ."

Thanks a bunch for today’s performances. We had a great time and I’m hoping we planted seeds in these precious minds. You were wonderful and we hope you will come back again next year. - Maureen Stevens--Librarian, Welder Elementary School, Sinton, TX

Bio

For over 20 years, Lawrence J. Clark has delighted audiences all across the United States, performing with folk/rock and blues bands in Maine, California, New Mexico, and Texas, and with his one-man show consisting of music, poetry, storytelling, and dramatic performances. A gifted and honored songwriter, his songs have been included on compilations published by MyTexasMusic.com, Texas Music Magazine, and the Houston Association of Acoustic Musicians (HAAM).

Besides performing in traditional performing songwriter venues, Lawrence also frequently performs and gives assembly programs and poetry readings in public schools and libraries. For more information on these programs, please see his school program site, http://singingpoetguy.com.

Lawrence recently completed a new recording of traditional and contemporary gospel/Americana selections entitled "Amazing!" CDBaby.com says: "Amazing harmonies complement the South Austin sound on a heartfelt mix of traditional and contemporary gospel favorites and originals,"
and MyTexasMusic.com says: You can expect heartfelt and sincere music from Lawrence J. Clark every time. Your expectations are again met. This time, LJ rises to the occasion with a spiritual tribute. Clark has always been able to please with his folk and funny collections, but this disc embarks on a more serious journey for this Houston performer. Passion is emblazoned across each cut as Clark pours himself humbly into each performance. You’ll hear that old fave "Amazing Grace" and appreciate it like never before. Clark approaches each song with purity and grace with just enough playfulness to invoke a smile. The arrangements are simple and true to the craft, as Clark truly believes each note and expressly performs each lyric. If you are already a spiritual person, this disc will help you in your life’s affirmations through music. If not, what a great place to start. Lawrence J. Clark defines spiritual folk and wears it deservingly like a soft purple robe. Clark’s servant spirit shines through on this twelve-cut emblem of praise. Christian to the core, the disc has something for everyone who has the faith, the belief, and an expectation."
