"Trolls Cottage Eugene Show"

“The singer actually can sing, and its island-flavored rhythms are controlled yet organic…and vocalist [Jacob Bain] has a bit of Michael Franti's urgent hush in his vocal delivery. [Bain’s] voice makes it sound as if there's some wisdom behind the songs, and there is …feel good-type wisdom.”

"Trolls Cottage at Neumo's 420 show 2008"

PRESS RELEASE
For immediate release

Smart Went Crazy Productions is proud to present Seattle’s premier 4.20 event on Sunday, April 20th at Neumos located at 925 East Pike Street, Seattle. The bill features the West Coast’s hottest reggae act Rebelution, along with Seattle favorites Panda Conspiracy and Trolls Cottage.

Trolls Cottage is one of the most mysterious and illusive reggae acts in the Great Northwest. In 2002 their live album was voted into the semi-finals of the Grammy Awards for Best Reggae Album. They have shared the stage with such acts as Clinton Fearon, Natural Vibrations, Eek-A-Mouse, and most recently Gregory Isaacs. The Trolls are rumored to live in a tree house on an island in the Puget Sound. They make excellent records and appear every few months before packed crowds from Seattle to San Diego. Then, before last call, they disappear back into the woods.

Bio

Across the water from Seattle, WA is Vashon Island; a quiet place secluded from the city and only accessible by boat. It was here, that five friends would form Trolls Cottage. They were dubbed the name after a small cottage, deep in the woods on the island, where the group rehearsed. In the coming years they would be playing to capacity crowds at live music clubs and festivals in Washington State and beginning to extend their reach across the West Coast.

Trolls Cottage has released two live CD’s and four full length studio CD's with another about to break this spring.

The energy this band brings to a performance is exhilarating and most certainly compels the audience to get up and dance.

More often than not, Trolls Cottage has been described as unique, having developed a sound that makes the group stand out from the oceans of other bands. They are enjoyed by a wide range of people, especially when performing at outdoor festivals where the crowds are so diverse.

Self promoted tours and self-released albums have garnered the group serious attention from local and national publications such as a recent big feature in the 35th Anniversary Issue of Powder Magazine. While they have mostly stuck to larger clubs around Seattle and neighboring cities, Trolls Cottage has also completed several West Coast Tours that have included shows in British Columbia, California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington and the Hawaiian Islands.

Over the years Trolls Cottage has shared the stage with many international acts like Lucky Dube, Culture, Natural Vibrations, Eek A Mouse and Clinton Fearon at festivals such as Bumbershoot, Folklife, Feather River Festival and Island Earthfair.
