"People here are usually in the upper echelons in their industries," Mr. Beamon, who is a regular. "I've struck business deals by the pool."
His friend James Ruff, 30, a musician, was also there to promote: essentially, himself.
"I want to be spending time at the right venues with the right people," he said. - The New York Times
"If Dave Matthews and Adam Duritz of the Counting Crows were to have a child, James would be that miracle."

"Witty lyrics combined with foot stomping soul melt off any winter blues you may feel. James Ruff packs a powerhouse punch laced in the sweetness of his down to earth heartwarming voice reminding us that a man and his guitar will never get old" - TV Ch. 97 in Fort Collins
"Better than before only this time more soul, and even more grace. A voice that demands attention, stories that move and entice, and a personality that you love to love. It's only a matter of time before James is a top known act."

Eddie Arthur - TV Ch. 97 in Fort Collins
When Fishman was looking for a “real” musician for its 2009 CD Catalog, we were lucky enough to meet New York City singer-songwriter James Ruff. During the day-long photo shoot on 30th Street in Manhattan, James not only captured the “look” of the working musician but also the spirit, talent and dedication. Already a long-time user of Fishman products, it was only fitting that we feature James Ruff and his music.
This month, James is preparing for a four-month tour zig-zagging across the U.S. and promoting his latest CD release “Long Journey Home” (available on May 18th). - Fishman.com
