Over the years, Judy Marshak has gained respect and admiration in many facets of the entertainment industry - theatre, television, film, voiceover, and music. Long known as a "singer's singer", Judy's voice has graced jazz clubs and concert halls across the country. She's sung for legendary Hollywood composer Harry Warren, worked with Grammy award winning team Richard Maltby and David Shire, shared billing with Ian Tyson at the Imperial Room.
However, the release of her first solo CD "A Matter of Time" is perhaps the most gratifying project to date. When turning points in her personal life stimulated a growing passion to write songs, the desire to record these songs lead her to esteemed jazz artist John Alcorn to be producer/collaborator/arranger on this journey. Their partnership, coupled with some of Toronto's finest musicians, has resulted in what Judy feels is a highpoint of her career - an album of soulful, sometimes whimsical, sexy, grooving, feel-good music, with lyrics that reflect love and loss and coming of age. CBC's George Anthony calls it a "musical bonbon to savour". Rob Fogle (CHRY-FM) says "Marshak's voice is right on the money". The Toronto Star's Richard Ouzounian calls it "slyly sexy and often touching...a wonderful surprise on many fronts".

Past musical highlights have included her highly acclaimed cabaret shows, (an audience favourite being her Blossom Dearie show), various jazz vocal trios, lead roles in such musicals as "Beauty and the Beast", "The Drowsy Chaperone", "Irma La Douce", "Anne of Green Gables", "Pal Joey", and so many more. She's appeared at Toronto's legendary Old Mill in the T.D. Jazz Festival, and played their Home Smith Lounge as part of the Friday Night Jazz Vocalist Series. Recently, she co-starred with Andrea Martin in a workshop concert of Johnny Mercer's "Dear World", and returned this spring from premiering her new solo ukulele show at the Kariwak Village Resort in Tobago. Since then, Judy and her ukuleles have been drawing audiences in clubs throughout Ontario, featuring an eclectic repertoire ranging from Bobbie Gentry to Bill Withers to Henry Mancini. And her workshops for beginner uke studies, 'UKEOLOGY', are rapidly growing in popularity. The ukulele has stolen her heart!
Songwars Songwriting Contest has awarded the Marshak/Alcorn song "Broken Radio" 1st Place in the Open Category, as well as it's highest honor as Outstanding Songwriter for the latest round! The contest is judged by an all-star cast of musicians and songwriters including Mike Pinder of the Moody Blues and Denny Laine of Wings.
"Broken Radio" has also won 1st Place in the Jazz Category of the West Coast Songwriters International Song Contest.
On Dec.10/09, Richard Ouzounian of the TORONTO STAR placed her CD alongside Michael Feinstein's and 6 others as his prime picks of the season for the 'Broadway' crowd.
Toronto's JAZZ-FM.91 included "A Matter of Time" on their list of the best and brightest new releases of 2009.
