"Like the science fiction writer of the same name, Asamov is showing us the future. When other artists are putting out superficial records with 'poppy' hooks, Asamov ignores the fluff and delivers tracks with real meaning."

Reviewer: Gail Hoffer - And Now - Review

"RAPREVIEWS.COM"

In actuality, this group, consisting of Therapy, Willie Evans, Jr., Basic, and J-Wonda, might be more innovative than I give them credit for. After all, they are from Jacksonville, Florida, one of the last major cities that I expected to hear from. ..This is a nice record, one of the better that I have heard this year." - And Now - Review

"B&S Magazine Review"

"Armed with engaging beats, thoughtful lyricism and a commitment to individuality, Florida-based quartet Asamov are a welcome addition to the current crop of artists looking to reinvigorate the often stale and stagnant underground rap scene."

"HipHopSite Review (@@@@ out of 5)"

"(Asamov's) And Now... is the perfect example of what hip hop should sound like. Dope rhymes and dope beats. This is hip-hop in its truest form. Too bad there aren't more groups like Asamov around to push the movement forward."

- HipHopSite.Com

"OkayPlayer.com Review (4.0 Rating!)"

"Jacksonville, Florida-based hip-hop quartet, Asamov, joins in the celebration, delivering one of the more solid debuts of the year....These are some of the most gifted lyricists in hip-hop and the fact that the Asamov boys hold their own on tracks with them should give you an idea what theyre capable of."

- OkayPlayer.com

"Billboard.com Review"

Florida transplants Asamov, who are more concerned with hip-hop's essence on their strong and accomplished debut, "And Now...," producing a vibe grounded in the organic grind of their clear heroes in De La Soul. - Billboard.com

"ASAMOV NAMED TO URB NEXT 100"

Producers like 9th Wonder have brought the jazzy, soulful side of hiphop back in fashion and Asamov is one of the best new groups to embrace the sound. All four members trade off on production and MC duties and their excellent debut, 2005's And Now...., shows skills on every level. - URB Magazine

"Reasons To Believe Bands to Watch 2006"

Every year, staffers from all four Creative Loafing and Weekly Planet papers dig through mountains of hype, buzz, website addresses and word-of-mouth recommendations to come up with 10 rising, overlooked or just plain amazing Southeastern acts for your perusal. Here's this year's yield:

Asamov - Jacksonville, Fla. may not have much of a reputation for hot-shit underground hip-hop, but this four-piece group has the talent to put the city on the map. Last year's cruelly overlooked "And Now ..." is a boom-bap blast of true-school rhymes and solid production. What's most impressive about the group is that it relies very little on outside help: Only one track features an outside producer (the producer in question is the highly esteemed 9th Wonder). And better-known friends like Mr. Lif, Akrobatik and J-Live stop by for guest spots that hardly overwhelm Asamov's own stanzas. As for the Diddys of the world? "We eat these MCs up until the food is gone/That shit ain't no good, like an expired coupon." www.myspace.com/asamov. -- Cooper Lane Baker

"I, ROBOT AUTHOR'S ESTATE CHALLENGES HIP-HOP ROOKIES OF THE YEAR FOR NAME"

May 22nd, 2006 (Jacksonville, FL) - In what reads like a classic Hollywood drama, 2005's newcomers of the year Asamov are announcing that the estate of science-fiction author Issac Asimov are challenging the four man group from Jacksonville, Florida for the rights to the name "Asamov." A cease and desists order was issued by Asimov's estate in January to the group's management, distributor, and label 6 Hole Records. This caused new retail orders of the group's award winning debut album And Now… not to be shipped for months causing a scarcity of the record across the country as well as awkward questions from concerned fans.

Resolving the dispute, in an out of court settlement is being announced today as well, but will require the up-and-comers to change their name of five years from Asamov to "The AB's" (short for The Alias Brothers). The settlement avoids costly litigation for the group and its label and ultimately begins a new chapter in their careers which have been on a steady up-hill trek. In conjunction with the name change, The AB's have reportedly recorded a new EP set for an early 2007 release which speaks directly on both the name change and their rise into the Hip-Hop spotlight while staying true to their funky, soulful roots.

Recently, The ABs have become underground media darlings winning critical praise for their Golden Era beats and rhymes exhibited on "And Now..." The group has been featured on Myspace Music, named "Top 10 Hip-Hop Groups To Watch 2006" by The Boston Globe, and just this month were named to URB NEXT 100 list. The group also wrapped up headlining their first national tour called the Video Trapped The Rapper Tour with Percee P, Tableek and others...

"And Now" was released in October of 2005 on 6 Hole Records and features Mr. LIF, Akrobatik, Wordsworth, 9th Wonder, J-Live, and Cassidy and has been dubbed an underground classic by influential Hip-Hop press like Okayplayer.com, Hiphopsite.com, and URB Magazine.

Issac Asimov's writings are credited for inspiring the Will Smith blockbuster I, Robot.

The AB's are Therapy, Basic, Willie Evans, Jr., and J-One-Da from Jacksonville, Florida and were named "Rookies of the Year" for 2005 by the influential Hiphopsite.com year end review.

"The Duval scene"

Rap and hip-hop artists are not unlike superheroes. Like Clark Kent, many have mild-mannered day jobs. But once they take the stage, they can perform seemingly unimaginable feats of lyrical precision and in the process rock the house.

America's Home Place
In Jacksonville, there's a small but persistent hip-hop scene that exists on the fringes and is very slowly picking up steam. The most visible member of the nascent community is the multi-emcee group the AB's , formerly known as Asamov. With a breakout debut CD, And Now, on URB Magazine's Top 100 and a member who does double-duty as a DJ for one of Boston's most respected acts, the AB's might be the future of hip-hop. At the very least, they are one of several acts seeking to redefine it. - Florida Times Union

Bio

Originating from Jacksonville, Florida Asamov centers around MCs Therapy, Basic, J-One-Da, and Willie Evans, Jr. Each member of Asamov is at least a triple threat referring to the fact that each member either rhymes, produces, or DJs making them an abnormality on the Hip-Hop scene. Their diversity is evident at their live shows which have become legendary for the way they "WOW!" the crowd by changing up roles on stage and behind the turntables showcasing their golden era of hip-hop music skills. High energy, innovative, memorable and fresh are perfect adjectives to describe what an Asamov live show is like!

In 2003 Asamov was signed to Major League Baseball player Desi Relaford's (Toronto Blue Jays) 6 Hole Records as the labels first act. This opportunity has given Asamov the financial backing they needed to grown a real fan base and begin building their careers in the music game.

The four members of the group are constantly working to make The AB's a mainstay in hiphop. In addition to the group touring with The Perceptionists (Akrobatik&Mr. Lif/Definitive Jux), Willie Evans Jr. produced much of their breakout album "Black Dialogue". Therapy is also the official tour DJ for The Perceptionists and has production on Akrobatik's past and present releases. Both Therapy and Willie Evans Jr. have production credits on Rasco's (Pockets Linted) most recent album. Basic is also a well known DJ that frequently spins B-boy competitions across the US.
